That's nice of you but it's virtually impossible for christian bale to go from 110 lbs to 230 lbs in half a year without roiding. It's called acting.

And yes it's possible to gain a lot of muscle natty after years of hard work but some people just don't have the time or the patience. And when you're old it's incredibly hard to maintain muscle mass like that so it's not unheard of that Jean might be roiding. There's no proof either way so it's all speculation.

I think you severely underestimate the phenomenon called muscle memory. After once having attained a certain mass and strength, you can and will regain it in a much, much quicker time.
And he was completely malnourished when he started, which makes it even more so and might bring some other aspects into play that will catalyze muscle mass growth.

We're talking about someone who has a history of seriously working out for what I believe is at least 5 years. In the time of American Psycho, he worked out of 3 hours a day, 6 days a week.

It's also an ideal case in the sense that he has profesional trainers and dieticians, and working out is his job, so he can put all his time and energy in working out and resting.

Also, it was 121 lbs, and from the 230 lbs a substantial amount was fat. He had to cut back down to 190 lbs and he still had a what seemed to be a body fat percentage of somewhere around 14%.
Which brings his total lean muscle mass somewhere not far from his former physique in American Psycho, where he was really lean with hardly any fat at all.

As with Jean-Claude van Damme, he has been working out for literally a lifetime. He isn't even that big. He's what? 185 lbs at most?
Nothing unlikely, not even at an age of 54 if your training scheme and diet are still up to par.

>"There's no proof either way so it's all speculation."
Exactly, that's my entire point. So why shout "roids".

Yeah and neither are stallone and schwarzenegger and christian bale and all the others right?
#79 - auryn (05/17/2015) [-]
Stallone (older) and Schwarzenegger are too obvious to even mention, ofcourse they are on anabolic steroids.
Christian Bale is possible to do natural, and personally I think he did.

You seem to be highly misinformed what exercising and diet can achieve. Perhaps if you worked out a bit more you would've known.

I myself, back when I still trained, as a vegetarian ectomorph, weighing 140 lbs, managed to pack on over 55 lbs of muscle, all natural, after working my ass off day in, day out.

Yet people I met who were entirely sure that such a thing was impossible. It's kinda aggravating to get called a liar when you're not.
Especially when the fault lies in the blatant ignorance of the other.

One of the major reasons to keep using the english system is it's easier to incorporate legacy designs if they're in the same system, like solid rocket boosters.

the only way i could think of defending it is it would be too expensive to replace every road sign and dashboard in the USA. and to tell people 120km is not the same as 120miles
User avatar #34 - etiennesk (05/16/2015) [-]
We were actually supposed to start phasing out the imperial system, starting with the engineers. It was believed that should engineers begin using the metric system, everyone else would get used to it.

But what ended up happening was the engineering students were forced to learn both systems as the existing equipment was all set to imperial. They decided that this would be fine and we'll just switch over completely when the older equipment breaks down.

Fast forward to modern day: old equipment sill works like it did the day it was built. Engineering students are sill forced to learn both systems so that they can work on the old equipment. Some manufacturers didn't get the memo and are sill making their shit in imperial units.

Eventually, Americans are theoretically going to switch over as the metric system gets more and more integrated into the marketplace. Chemists and physicists have already switched over completely, but engineers are slacking behind due to the dual system requirement.

well you obviously dont know funnyjunkers

if you ever paid attention to them. they largely bitch at anything that contradicts mainstream ideals of political corectness

in the case of this pic, providing the non-PC truth about race/species, the FJ kids would bitch about it being 'racist'

then again you seem to devote your time to ************ others instead of paying attention to them
