The reason everybody is hopping on the graphene "bandwagon" is because it has such a good future predicted. It is so ridiculously strong that it replaces the need for certain construction materials and can be used to create electronics that are damage resistant and it also opens up gateways into quantum mechanics. It has great electrical properties and optical properties, too. It may be difficult to mass manufacture, but that's why the funding is going towards it. If we can figure out a way of manufacturing it in vast quantities, the way that this world develops will change for good. It's one of the most important science discoveries of the 21st century, in my opinion. I'm really not trying to be an asshole here, but development of graphene is much more important to society and science in general than people's masters degrees.

~Master's Degree in Forensic Chemistry. Masters for Chemistry are fucking hard, bro. I hope you do get your degree.

why didnt he just go to someone else weak minded and have his credits exchanged for something useable rather than waste time betting money on races
User avatar #40 - vorarephilia (12/25/2013) [-]
because lucas wanted pod racer toys.

That and Quigon was more interested in Anikan
User avatar #106 - vorarephilia (12/25/2013) [-]
why didn't he get the parts for the ship and then sneak anakin and maybe even his mom out in the night? wouldn't that be a preferable option to risking anakin in a dangerous race. and from a story standpoint, I prefer "characters having to stealth to point b" tension to "high speed action scene" tension. like that scene from episode 4 when they were on the death star.

also the voice in my head has switched to the guy who did the star wars i review. quite entertaining .
This dude if you don't get that: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKtZmQgxrI

A short answer to that would be that showing Anikin ima just spell his name 20 different ways and one will be right that meeting scum bag with scum bag was the way to go wouldn't be very jedi like. Plus he would have needed to confirm that this kid was the real deal, like with a pod race. I'm just gonna watch this review now

actually that could have been set up for his fall to the darkside later. but enough rewriting films. enjoy that review. it's pretty long so you may want to pop some popcorn.

I'm enjoying it, but so far he kinda blew his first point up imo. "The lead character is un identifiable and the audience can't relate to him". He then goes on to say that it's probably young skywalker and that the audience is kids. But hold the fuck up, then he says that Anikan has no idea what's going on or control over his environment in saying that there's no tension, which I would also debate that in a kids movie the tension is there anyways .

That's EXACTLY what being a kid feels like, being powerless and confused while trying to do the best you can. I think the primary audience (kids) can totally relate to that feeling and follow the character's progress. I dunno, I feel like people forget the target audience of starwars in this movie and compare it to films geared at adults when they shouldn't, but I'll keep going.

I don't agree with everything in the review either. but you must admit, the analysis of the opening scenes was quite thought provoking. rewatching it myself cause what better to do on christmas eve then watch movie reviews.

Well that was indeed insightful... especially at the end where he went into the behind the scenes. I'm starting to think Lucas wasn't that great of a story writer.

I dozed off and now I'm watching it again, almost at the end of part 1. I gotta say he's dead on with the character analysis, they were all pretty dead characters. On the flip side, I didn't notice this when I watched it as a kid, so that wasn't as much an issue for me as it was just a difference in target audience.
