Comfortable In Skin.

Cis is short for Comfortable In Skin

Not to say what you said is invalid

That seems like an extremely unnecessary phrase.

That may be a helpful mnemonic device, but the terms cis and trans have had approximate meanings (ie same and "changed") in many scientific fields (isomerism in organic chemistry, for example) for far longer than the radical feminists have used the terms.

In organic chemistry, a cis- molecule is one that, in layman's terms, has certain parts matching up with other parts (eg functional groups and hydrogens on a 4 bonded center molecule are on opposite sides). A trans- molecule is one that has certains parts mixed with other parts (functional groups and hydrogens on a 4 bonded center molecule are mixed, one on each side).

These terms are latin, cis meaning "on the same side of" and trans meaning "on the other side of"

so what you're telling me is that we should skin and flay all the trans people? I can get on board with that

I come back much later to find someone else has argued all of my points for me. Thanks. Well... all of the points that I would have brought up.

Yes, my point was just that - risking everyone's lives just for the pride of a few is.. stupid. Monumentally stupid, in fact. Fortunately I don't actually think the world operates that way. Even though it might seem that Putin is grabbing Chrimea like a maniac, I'm pretty sure it was an exact, calculated move that is actually very rare.

Even if he annexed all of the Ukraine (which won't happen), there is no chance of war. Developed powers are far too interdependent and put far too much value on human life for that to happen. There is a risk of course, since the US has a military which seems to exist for the sake of it, and which would not have much use if not in combat with someone...

Anyway.. if you keep seeing the world as just "us" and "them", then you'll never outgrow the tendency toward war.

Not the pride, the life of a few people.
Your "greater good" can go fuck itself, if it means that you should live a life in fear and dishonor for abandoning your comrades.

Ok sweetie enjoy the 8th grade, and when you drop out of high school I recommend you enlist so you can experience first-hand what happens when those in power sacrifice the needs of the many for the needs of the few.
