Oh. Ok, I definitely agree with that. It's also why we love Batman, the broody bastard. he has some of the best stories. I think one of the only Superman stories I've ever liked was All-Star Superman.

Not recently it isn't. The fucking OUTRAGE at Superman having an emotional human conflict in Man of Steel. How DARE he be forced to CHOOSE? HOW COULD THEY MAKE HIM MAKE A HARD CHOICE?

For almost two decades, hardcore Superman fans have wanted nothing more than endless serials where he lifts cars and solves every single problem perfectly. The moment you throw something at him that can't be done with just strength and superpowers alone, people get upset. Even though he's supposed to be super-intelligent on top of everything else, he never, ever uses it.

Some writers and artists have managed to make Superman empathetic in spite of the demands and childishness of the core fanbase. But that is not his natural state.

Which is unfortunate, because that is the only time Superman was ever really interesting. When he was solving problems that didn't need superpowers, when he was being an actual person with emotions who didn't always have all the answers, but still knew he needed to try.

It's not Superman who needs to grow up. It's his fans. Batman can get away with things Superman cannot, simply because they are liked by two different groups of people.

I've been a hardcore Superman fan for a while. The solves everything Supes is only in the movies. Like Reeve and Routh's Superman

Every other (well written) iteration has him tackling complex issues. I love what they are doing with the movies, focusing on how we would actually perceive Superman. I wanna see Superman deal with people hating him, fearing him but at the same time worshipping him and loving him.

Right now in the comics Lois has revealed Clark's Identitiy to the world and im excited to see what he does. I believe theres never been a better time to be a supes fan.

But why is it just Superman's thing? That makes no sense. Heroes are supposes to be that way anyway. Of course there are a select few that don't and that's what makes comic books diverse but knowing how Batman is, I can never not see him showing humanity when it is needed and necessary.

It's probably the reason Batman and Superman get along in the end. Two different heroes, with two different backgrounds, and with two different ideologies for the most part but they both care and understand the same thing. Humanity. It's the reason Superman chose the humans over Zod and his people and why Batman will never kill The Joker. (unless its some alternate universe stuff)

It is a remarkable dichotomy. In many ways, Clark is the most human of us all. Then... he shoots fire from the skies and it is difficult not to think of him as a god. And how fortunate we all are that it does not occur to him. Quote2
-- Batman

superman is one of the most beloved and respected superhero in universe, not because he is so strong. but because he genuinely cares for the well being off every life form there is.even ordinary bank robbers have said that they would rather operate in metropolis rather than anywhere else because the villains like superman more.he isnt called "hopeman" for nothing.

batman is socially awkward. he can relate to pain, and trauma. because he has been through this. but he doesnt show "humanity" in common way.

what I meant was Superman's humanity is recurring a theme within his mythos and is incorporated into all of his best stories. It usually rarerly shows up within the best Batman stories. Batman doesnt relate with other people in works such as The Dark Knight Returns, The Long Halloween, Year One, Hush etc. Batman has moments like this but they tend to be rare. Batman comics tend to focus on the dark side of humanity. While Big Blues are about the good in people.
