#206 - amuzen (09/10/2015) [-]
I do, I also lost mine for a time so I had to buy a replacement and it was 30 dollars. I'd say it's about on par with the Intous 4 as far as sensitivity goes.

I'm not a pro at these things and I've only really used like 10-20 tablets in my time but in my opinion as far as just straight forward drawing goes I'd say a surface pro 1 is worth a 200-300 dollar tablet. It has the fact that it's an interactive screen which your draw on yourself that I'd say is worth about a 200-300 dollar increase, but it also loses tracking towards the corners of the screen, has a handful of bugs that you've got to download various things to get around, and it's particularly small so that drops it back down another 200 dollars. then it's got the fact that it's just a straight up PC with it it's own operating system which makes it a fantastic travel computer, so I'd bump it up another 200 dollars for that.
In total I guess I'd say a surface pro's value solely as a graphic tablet should be between 200 and 400 dollars but if you also use it as a travel computer that pushes it up to between 400 and 600 dollars making it a pretty good deal since it's 400 dollars on amazon.

There isn't be anything wrong with defending property, but booby trapping is illegal. This is mainly because it takes a judgement aspect out of it. If you're staring down a perp with a shotgun that perp has the chance to surrender and you have the chance to analyze the threat level and respond accordingly. That's not the case with traps.

B&E's are usually about theft and the perps might not be armed. I don't have statistics to say whether the majority are about armed vs unarmed, but I don't think it's a far off point to agree that most B&E's are more about theft than causing people harm.
Getting shot is a risk you should be faced with, but by a human that can assess the threat.

The government should be punishing the criminal harder. If he got away with any of the stolen goods, whatever settlement he got for his injuries should be paying for the value of lost goods and he should get countersued for the trauma he's caused the family. It is their business to restrict us on how we defend our property, because that would leave a whole lot room for poor judgement calls and malevolent intent.

It's not about him getting shot. It's about the trap shooting him. If a person had shot at that robber, the story would have been different.

If that's the case then the burglar shouldn't be the one receiving the money and rather it should just be a standardized fine for reckless endangerment. There's no way the burglar should be allowed to get off with any sort of benefits from this at all.
User avatar #182 - taniv (09/11/2015) [-]
Mostly agree. The burglar shouldn't benefit from it. The extent of his compensation should be for things like medical costs which he incurs as a result. Anything more than that is unnecessary and kind of fucking stupid. I'd prefer to see a fine or jail time over monetary compensation, it just makes way more sense.

Community service, what the fuck happened to community service why don't we give that out for petty crimes and misconduct now days?
User avatar #185 - taniv (09/11/2015) [-]
That happens a lot up north in Canada. Also, a crime that could result in someone dying isn't really misconduct. The burglar would be more likely to get community service to be honest, unless he was armed or had shown intent to harm someone. The photo doesn't really give us a lot of case details, or even a source for us to verify that was an actual incident.
Shit just kind of escalates when somebody gets hurt or might get hurt. Doesn't really matter whose life it is, but threats against someones physical well being is almost always more severely punished than threats to someone's private property.
#186 - amuzen (09/11/2015) [-]
Canada's taken it to a stupid extreme, I've heard cases of people getting sued because people broken in middle of the night tripped on something in the dark, hurt themselves and sued.

I gotta say I hate how intent has become irrelevant in the eyes of the law.

Not my haircut, my routine is usually pick a hairstyle, show them a picture, tell them to layer it, tell them to make sure not to cut the sides too short, trim this side a certain way. it all depends on what hairstyle I pick. if you are a male and getting cheap looking haircuts you are a idiot.
#10 - oplu (09/09/2015) [-]
This is a great example of "here's none of the information you need to know to make an intelligent judgement about the situation". We don't know if she asked for a traditionally male cut, we don't know if she was belligerent, we don't know if the barber shop just said no because she has a vagina or if they said no because they can't do the kind of cut she was asking for.

Either way, seems like everyone in this situation is a fucking retard.

"I asked them for a classic men's cut and they refused to give me any service"
User avatar #99 - midgetslayer (09/10/2015) [-]
of course the other side has their own story

"Longtime barbers Marty Pinz and Roby Hunt said Marshall walked in and asked if they could cut her hair with a razor. They told her they don't do haircuts with razors.

They said she just kept talking about the razor and they explained that they use electric clippers and shears. Then, she grew agitated and aggressive, according to Pinz."
