Its implied she might be crippled forever and everyone is just in denial. That's how I took it. Everyone is all like "don't worry, you will heal up" when she is basically a vegetable and barely looks better after 2 weeks. The president even commented "she doesn't look good"
#232 - themissionary (08/24/2014) [-]
Almost no sense of self worth. Amon in hallucination told her she isn't needed. Zaheer told her the world doesn't need an avatar. Tenzin says he and the airbenders and Jinora will basically do her work for her. She's stuck in a wheelchair. Also I think the poison, which is supposed to be mercury or something, has the side effect of depression or something like it.
#236 - amuzen (08/24/2014) [-]
So there's really just no loss she's crying about how emotional she's feeling at the moment cuz she's all drugged up.
#279 - themissionary (08/24/2014) [-]
I'm not sure she's drugged up. But she is seeing Jinora taking her place, maybe not in terms of ability and power but more symbolically. But yes, she seems very depressed.

Korra's biggest fear is losing her status as the Avatar, because that's all she knows and wants. It's the Avatar's job to be the preserver of balance and the guardian of the world, but Korra is rather consistently failing at that, or at least coming close to it.

She was beaten by Amon, the previous Avatars are gone, and now she's been completely physically crippled. If Asami's help is anything to go by, she can't even dress herself. Korra is legitimately a terrible Avatar by many estimates.

And now her fears are validated: The Air Benders are taking her place, Republic City is still infested with Spirits, and she was seconds from dying in the Avatar state, thus dooming the entire Avatar cycle. She's fucked up royally, and now everyone is happy that she's being replaced.

If he did that would set back his ultimate goal to destroy structured society because it would mean the air nation would be able to restart itself

Just removing the avatar from the picture wouldn't be enough to topple society (Although it would be ultimately necessary since the Avatar would forever be a symbol for people to rally behind) and destroying an entire nation in its infant stages would be a huge plus.

Besides that I kind of think that he wanted to take over the air nation and make it into something of a anarchistic community.

All that being said I kind of didn't like that ending all that much, it feels like it left way to much unresolved for the final chapter in the avatar series. I mean we don't even know what state Korra is in right there, she says a couple of things and moves a little bit but like, is she paralyzed? will she ever be able to walk again? What about the toppled Earth Nation? I mean sure it was emotional but does that really make it good?

There's gonna be another season, if that makes you feel better.
#210 - amuzen (08/23/2014) [-]
That does make me feel a little better, although what do you want to bet instead of fleshing out the existing crap and dealing with the problems they left on the table they're just gonna give her another big someones trying to destroy the world and you're the only one willing to try and stop them plot.

Honestly I wish that they had just put all three of these last seasons they tacked on after the first one together into one big plot with mid way points like the original TLBA instead of them having four separate practically unrelated plots.

Like, she never dealt with the problem of the disparity between benders and non benders, she never dealt with the problem of integrating humans and spirits together, and now instead of dealing with the remnants on the red lotus I bet she's gonna go off on some adventure to stop another mega villain.

Although I travel a lot and I've been to a fair large number of cafes and generally speaking the ones with good coffee cost just as much or more than starbucks.
It's not a rule written in stone but just as a rule of thumb the more expensive the coffee the better the quality and Starbucks is pretty fairly priced.

Muscle size and mass = muscle strength. Both would be drastically reduced. The horse overall would lose a lot of weight to throw around.

I'm pretty sure I could just annihilate them with a swift stomp on the head. They might be agile creatures, but they're not exactly accustomed to dodging boots the same size they are.

I'm pretty sure an actual duck-sized duck is more of a threat than a duck-sized horse, and I'd probably rather take on 100 duck-sized ducks than 1 horse-sized duck.

Little duck-sized horses wouldn't be able to climb on you or run into you with enough force to knock you down. Their kicks would probably be like getting punched in the shin by a toddler. The worst they'd be able to do is bite you, and assuming I'm wearing jeans as I do on any normal day, and not shorts or lycra, as I don't do on any normal day, I'm sure I'll manage just fine trampling 100 ducky-sized horses.
#21 - amuzen (08/17/2014) [-]
Yeah but there's a hundred of them, 20 of them could surround you at any given time and if they're actually motivated to attack you for some reason and even somewhat coordinated they'll be able to knock you down, plus a horses kick even if it were scaled down to the size of a duck would still be pretty harsh because of the way their anatomy is built and how muscular they are. It would be like having a 4 classrooms full of twelves year olds all banding together to kick the shit out of you, 10-20 yeah sure no problem BUT A HUNDRED? It's only a matter of time before you trip and fall. Besides that the horses jaw strength wouldn't suffer that much from a size reduction and it would be able to not only rip through your jeans but your flesh muscles and sinew as well.

Of course yeah it really depends on whether they keep their same basic anatomy, whether they're truly motivated to attack you, and whether they're coordinated or not but end of the day it feels like an impossible battle.

You're wont be corrupted by money though. (hopefully). They're just things, and having people to love is all you truly need.

Having people AND things, though, is way more awesome.
#18 - amuzen (08/17/2014) [-]
yeah you would be surprised how much more people love people with money in the city. Crap shoot homephone means I don't get all the texts for when people are going out, budget means I can't go out to the movies or to treat people to dinner, bargain clothes/haircuts means I look shabby, crappy rental agreement states I can't have visitors.
The thing is, without money, you end up not having anybody to love.
