So, in your opinion, we should be allowed to beat up the following people:
>The people who are responsible for McDonalds-commercials where the burgers don´t look like shit.
>every fashion magazine, ever.
>every game designer who used better graphics in their commercials.
>EVERY girl on Facebook ever and 95% of the guys, too.
>Every single Hollywood-Star, Pop-Sensation, Top 40 Musician, Entertainer, Pornstar, etc, etc

Hell, what kind of fucked up reasoning is that? Everyone wants to look better then he does, even all those people we regularely praise as the most beautiful people around do it. The guy is 100% at fault in this case. He didn´t ask for more pictures or if she really looks like that and he decided to go meet her on his own. Sorry, but that´s all there is to it.
#158 - amuzen (02/09/2015) [-]
getting beat up isn't the end of the world, it's sucks pretty bad, makes you feel like shit for a couple of weeks, and might set you back a bit, BUT it's a fitting punishment for intentionally screwing someone out of thousands of dollars which honestly causes even more of a set back for the majority of people (if he crippled or killed her that's a different story) the analogy you're using assumes that scale of deception is meaningless which is ludicrous, that'd be like saying that murdering someone should warrant the same punishment as flipping somebody off since they're both acting offensively towards a target individual.

Also again those are extraneous circumstances we don't know, whether he talked to her for months before hand and saw dozens of pictures or if he only saw the one, we don't know if he paid the thousands of dollars to her directly or if he spent it on something like coming from another country, a fancy dinner, a show and a tux.

I also specified that I was looking at this from the angle of how I interpreted it sounding when I read it but that it was to vague to really make a final judgment.

If she just posted a single fraudulent picture of herself online and then from there all on his own he spent thousands of dollars trying to meet her, found her and beat the living crap out of her, than yeah it's his fault 100%, but we don't know if that happened and it's equally possible that she had a website filled with fraudulent pictures of herself, they conversed online then he paid her thousands of dollars to meet her then she showed up and tried to just act all sassy like the looks shouldn't matter or some shit like that and he knocked over her and stormed out.
Those are two extremely different stories but both are possible from the information given in the post.
User avatar #161 - ljxjlos (02/09/2015) [-]
Yet again - I´m debating this case only, in which a guy beat a girl up for not looking as good as he thought she did. He paid a shitload of money to see her without even videochatting with her or anything - she might not even have been a real person at that point. It´s just sheer and utter idiocy of his site.
Y´all people seem to have internalized the idea that all women are bad, as far as I can see in the comments of this content - nowhere in the story was said that the women talked him into spending the money, he did decide on it completely on his own.

Not to mention, that, while I support violence as a solution, it definitely isn´t one in this case. And beating someone up because they "look ugly" doesn´t really leave physical scars, only. Imagine you´re a girl and your ex boyfriend wants to come back with you - you didn´t change your profile picture but gained 5 kilo and then he beats you up for it - would that be okay?

That´s correct, yeah - but as usual on this site, everyone gives the woman the fault without knowing anything about it - and that´s what pisses me off. People don´t think for themselves anymore, they just see that the new fad is hating women because of some feminists and they take it up like nothing.

#171 - amuzen (02/09/2015) [-]
I'm not giving the woman the fault without knowing anything, I'm saying under the set of circumstances that we do know I think the most likely scenario, one that assumes they're both somewhat reasonable human beings with reasonable human emotions and flaws, the girl is probably the one who comes out at fault because she thought she could actively lie and fuck someone over with absolutely no repercussions plus judging from her picture in the content, the injuries she sustained were more of a damage to her pride (if actually even that) than her actual body.

from the looks of the cast it's more likely she fractured/sprained her wrist than that she broke it, there's no injuries on her face, and her posture doesn't look like she has any serious bodily injuries (Crossed legs, sitting up with her back straight looking straight at the camera, the injuries have already been tended meaning this is hours after the fact so there's no way it hurts worse than a wince right now, yet her facial expression looks like her cat, parents, best friend and role model all just died at the same time, yet no sign of recent tears or actual crying, just an overtly pouty face, looks like she's posing for a picture to me.) This makes me think that 'beat up' actually means she got pushed over (supported by the fact that if someone 'beat her up' she'd more than likely have at least one bruise on her face and the fractured/sprained wrist is a common injury from catching yourself while falling over.

Also you say 'once again' like you specified before hand that you were only going to debate the case where the absolute worse is assumed of the man and his primary motive is completely ignored, but you left that out in your intial post in favor of a bunch of half baked nonsensical analogies centered at trying to warp the scenario itself with a heavy bias.

The primary motive in this case is that he spent thousands of dollars specifically to meet her, try to use your imagination and think of a few scenarios where that could happen, because the only scenarios I can think of is something akin to escort service or ridiculously over the top romantic vacation in a foreign land for 2.

the way I see it, he paid her several thousands of dollars in order for her to get her to let him meet a fictitious character then she showed up and tried to play it off like it was nothing, a lot of people have to be frugal and work hard for more than a year in order to save up several thousands of dollars, all in all I think a small outburst of violence that doesn't leave any serious injuries like in the picture above is pretty damn justifiable in the face of that.

It's not about a guy beating the crap out of a women because she was ugly, it's about a guy attacking a women who screwed him out of thousands of dollars, and thats why I specified that depending on whether it was her intention to screw him out of the thousands of dollars and whether she directly benefited from it needs to be taken into account when deciding whose at fault here.

I think since the most likely scenario (her offering a falsified amateur escort type service) means she would have purposely tricked him into directly giving her thousands of dollars, then it is mostly likely that she is at fault.

The difference is that; a burger costs $2-3, Fashion magazines are usually five dollars, I pay 30-20 dollars usually for a game, and most forms of media like music, movies, porn, etc are either free, or don't cost too much.
User avatar #140 - ljxjlos (02/09/2015) [-]
Yeah, but those get sold thousandfold making the financial "loss" more then the same - not to mention that it was his own idiocy to pay that much money to meet up with a girl for a single occasion without at the very least videochatting with her first - hell, she might not even have been a real person at that point.
User avatar #139 - ljxjlos (02/09/2015) [-]

And that explains it all. You're a sketcher and i'm a writer. I cant stop writing to sharpen my pencil or sharpen before i begin in fear of losing the idea. You're a (i presume) sketcher but i wont even pretend i understand what that entails.
#83 - amuzen (02/09/2015) [-]
I also typed that terribly since it's like 1:16 here, the main thing that sketching implies is keep good control over something called the line weight (a term that refers to something of a combination of the width and darkness (value) of a stroke)

Wooden pencils are mainly better for it since you can easily use the side of the pencil for well controlled dark to light light shading, you can sharpen the pencil to varying degrees for a plethora of situations, or you can use the crap from the shavings and smear it on to add a kind of smooth darkness with a nice fall off (which you can then lighten using a kneadable eraser for highlights.) Overall there's just more cool tricks that you can do with a wooden pencil that make it kind of better, although mechanical pencils have the benefits of being like pens with their consistent line width making them optimal for line drawings + you can break a piece of lead from one of them stick it on the tip of your finger and depending on how hard you press down you can do some simplistic looking shading with it.

Also once you start getting into the more expensive mechanical pencils you can start getting some with a variety of kind of cool features that kind of blow regular pencils out of the water (Extendable erasers, nibs that are huge, the round sturdy tip ones that you can easily swap out for varying values of graphite, the little rubber grips for holding for hours straight, some have kind of extended little reinforced nibs and feel like architectural pens etc etc) if you were to toss 20+ dollars into mechanical pencils a month they're superior, any less than that and generally I'd say they're inferior.

To be honest for writing I generally prefer to type crap up on a notepad rather than write it down, although I do find myself writing a variety of notes about characters and things when I'm sketching out concepts, when I do stuff like I think the ultimate tool is probably a pilot pen.

#80 - amuzen (02/09/2015) [-]
for just writing something on the fly or having laying around your house yeah.

Wooden pencils are better for sketching in plus in general since they're much cheaper so if you can keep track of a crappy pencil sharper + a small ziplock bag (like the kind you get drugs in) that you can put the shavings in wooden pencils are better, you can get just as much consistently + a much wider range on as long as your sharpen every 30 minutes or so and don't break all the lead inside the pencil by being rough about it.
