actually the wii u initially sales suck because Nintendo marketed it really poorly and it had a poor launch line up
they continue to suck now because no third party development houses want to spend the time porting to a console with such a small user base

But did he really burn his hand? Wasn't it the cold of the White Walker's touch that hurt him? He carried the bear through a room on fire after all.
It would be boring if she developed into one of those overpowered characters balanced not but what they can do, but what they may do.

Yeah i kinda of realized i was talking out of my ass. I don't know every individual reader, as clearly what he does works if i'm the only one who thinks it doesn't.
I was wrong comrade, i was wrong.

I just don't get how you can care when people die if you expect everyone to die. People have said that most of the fun of game of thrones is not knowing who dies next, which is the exact opposite of the point George is trying to make. He says "I'm trying to focus more on emotion than violence" when all his readers just care about "Shit nigga who dies next?"

Well the books actually flesh out the characters and make them feel real. The deaths in the books are significant. Your comments are strange, I realize its an exaggeration but you cant say "all the readers" when I am in fact one of the readers who disagrees with you. It's not BS because he's talking about the books, which you know nothing of outside of skewed internet comments.

That's the point though: the fun truly is not knowing who dies next. Why?

Because I sit there holding out a hope in the bottom of my heart that one of my favorite characters, even though I know the hope is probably futile, will survive the next book. You grow so attached to the characters as you read through what they're going through, their wit, their charm, their emotional process that you kind of do end up counting them as a friend...

And then they might die. Or they might live. Or they might die how you would hope they would die, with some form of honor. Or maybe not.

The other part of the allure is that they're just good books. Being able to have a storyline that you can't guess what's going to happen on the next turn of the page is alluring to a lot of people who grew up with the really damn obvious stories of "Oh, the hero kills the whoever and does the thing that saves the world or dies in order to protect the person that can do the thing to save the people that save the world because magic."

That isn't the case with Martin, and that's fantastic.

If i read that, knowing how much death goes on, I wouldn't really see the characters as people that evoke emotion, they would just be chess pieces to me.
wat i sed a moment ago

after 20 or so characters you like die, wouldn't you just stop caring altogether?
I guess i'm just speaking for myself. Eh, whatever.
User avatar #72 - toensix (06/10/2014) [-]
But not that many main characters die in aSoIaF(calling it that to separate it from the tv show). Book 1: Ned Stark Book 2:None Book 3: Catelyn but she's revived Book 4: none Book 5: Jon(possibly) .

Although to be fair I only count major POV characters. Oberyn's death for example I do not count.
