I like to think humanity has moved past the point of wanting to hump every person of the opposite gender in site. Survival as a species isn't a massive issue anymore, honestly it's quite the opposite, so we don't feel the need to procreate every chance we get. That's why many people wait till they're stable financially, emotionally, physically, etc. to have children. If we were wired to make babies as much as possible, people wouldn't be making those decisions. Hell, most babies come into the world by accident because people were just seeking sex for pleasure rather than procreation.

I think good and evil are quite subjective actually. You have cult leaders like Charles Manson who have zero remorse for what they did. In their eyes, they did nothing wrong or even did something good, while others think what they did was appalling.

Depending on your views, pornography is wrong. My personal belief is that you shouldn't have sex with someone you don't legitimately love. But that's just my opinion and you're free to have your own.
I think it's a parents job to lead their child down a good path and, based on my beliefs, they've failed to do that.

People are programmed to breed. That is my opinion. We are innately wired to continue the survival of our species and it does not matter if we love the person we are copulating with. Our body cannot biologically tell the difference between a person you love, and a person you hate in a blind test.

Good and evil are objective. In the end all that good and evil boil down to is law, artificial created by people to keep order. At one time, pornography was wrong, it is still wrong in some places.

The British had the largest empire in history, bar none. Though imo you've got that backwards, far less impressive than Rome or Persia, who actually annexed the places they conquered and brought order and technology, rather than just raping the countries they controlled for their resources although the British were the best of the colonial powers about that, in fairness . Gold bullion is never 100% pure, because pure gold can't hold a shape, it begins to warp and basically melt over time. They add small amounts of copper and sometimes zinc to counteract this.

That entire sentence is still literal nonsense. "Correlate the causation of debt through betting?" Are you even reading what you write? Correlate means "have a mutual relationship or connection, in which one thing affects or depends on another" and applies specifically to sets of data with matching trends. Using the word here serves absolutely no purpose other than to convolute your argument.

Also 'verbally insulted' as opposed to what other kind of insult that I would do through a chat forum on funnyjunk, exactly? You're really just trying to use as many words as possible because you seem to think it makes you sound smarter; your use of the English language is absolutely ridiculous and you're accomplishing quite the opposite of what you're attempting.

You're needlessly nitpicking a joke JUST to pick an argument, you're using big words you don't understand just to try to sound smarter when all you're really doing is making your argument needlessly complicated and impossible to follow. Then to top it off, you complain about me "insulting you," when all I did was address your use of words, not a single comment slurring your personality or merit as a person outside of these posts, yet you close your post out with "douche"? Do you really not see a problem there?

"Implication does not imply causation."

...You have a fundamental misunderstanding of what causation is, we weren't discussing causation at all. Please do not try to use language that you do not understand. The phrase is 'correlation does not imply causation,' and the phrase is worded that way for a reason--what you just said was a verbal train wreck.

You're also the one with burden of proof, since you decided to state as a fact that there was no opposite side to said gamble, despite that being information that we simply do not have.

And yes, I gave you a red thumb. The content made a joke, I laughed. Then I made a joke. You could laugh, or you could decide my joke wasn't funny, but you picked door number 3, which is needlessly nitpick. And you didn't even do a good job of it. Were you really not expecting a red thumb?
User avatar #26 - agrofenlas (05/30/2015) [-]
Causation:
the action of causing something.

The implication that there was indeed an opposing bet does not correlate the causation of debt through betting.

Maybe you should stop being such an asshat. You tried to make implication that someone owed something you had no proof that he had and expected not to be disagreed with. Then you proceeded to verbally insult and demean everyone who disagreed with you.

You're being 'that guy'. So, here are your red thumbs you douche.

It's implied in the comic that we're catching the tail of end of the conversation. "If you lose this bet, then..." isn't usually the very first mention of the bet, so we've clearly missed the rest of the terms. How do you know nothing was put up from the other side? The obvious sentence preceding the point we entered the comic would be "If you win this bet, then.."

Second, yes. You still owe them something if you lie about having had in in the first place. See the original analogy. You can't just say 'Hey, I'll give you the 100 dollars in my pocket if you do this thing for me.' And then when they do the thing, you say 'Jokes on you, I don't have a hundred dollars in my pocket, that means I don't owe you anything!' No, you still owe them 100 dollars. You just lied about actually having the means to pay up.
