Well the idea of the universe infinitely expanding then contracting back into the infinitesimal spec it was before and then recreating itself if a fine and nifty idea.......but that is just a cycle that had to start somewhere. Excuse me if my quantum physics is sloppy, but infinitesimally small particles tend to do whatever the fuck they want, such as teleport and jump in and out of existence. Be it a cycle or not, it still needs a TRUE beginning to even START the cycle in the first place.

If it involves the warping of space-time and all that shit than it doesn't have to have a beggining, because time doesn't have to be in the straight line we always think of it as.
It doesn't have to start the cycle if it warps time to start itself.
User avatar #171 - ChilyCheeseFryz (01/05/2015) [-]
That's like going back in time to be your own grandpa. You still have a beginning, just one that you created.
#160 - afrosheep (01/05/2015) [-]
Of course I understand that all things (including time itself) need to have a beginning but as it stands now there is no concrete evidence that something or someone started the cycle. Therefore until new evidence presents it self, I feel confident in that the universe was always here but in a constant cycle of rebirth. My best example would be if you could reach light speed the flow of time begins to slow, until it reaches a halt at light speed. However time around would seem constant but in fact you would be moving as fast as time permits you to experience it. What this means is that there is limitations to what life or better yet objects in this reality perceive time, space, and even existence. In conclusion until we discover what binds time to our reality time will seemingly be endless and also beginning-less.

The universe OBVIOUSLY had a beginning. ALL things that exist have beginnings.
#166 - funnyjunkyeahyeah (01/05/2015) [-]
Why do you assume that? When in your life have you ever seen something truly created, rather than just changing form?
User avatar #167 - ChilyCheeseFryz (01/05/2015) [-]
You don't have to see it, it's logic. You can't just have existence, it has to start. Whether or not it can end doesn't matter, it just has to have a beginning.
#169 - funnyjunkyeahyeah (01/05/2015) [-]
It's just logic, based on something that you've never observed. OK then.
User avatar #172 - ChilyCheeseFryz (01/05/2015) [-]
We've never observed macro-evolution of species, but that's still the base of biological sciences.
#177 - funnyjunkyeahyeah (01/05/2015) [-]
We have observed it... through the fossil record...
User avatar #207 - lyiat (01/05/2015) [-]
Uh... No we haven't. There has been absolutely zero documented cases of macro-evolution, in the fossil record or elsewhere. It's the main argument of Christian scientists.

This would be because it doesn't fucking happen and if you believe that's now evolution works, you're an idiot.

Transitional fossils are not macroevolution, you ding dong.

"Macroevolution is evolution on a scale of separated gene pools." Basically, the exact point Dinosaurs became Birds, and Apes became Humans. That shift does not suddenly happen. It's microevolutionary over millions of years. You'll never see the transition point.
#211 - funnyjunkyeahyeah (01/05/2015) [-]
That's what macroevolution is, no one believes it happens instantaneously.
#146 - afrosheep (01/05/2015) [-]
If everything has to begin then at what point does that cycle stop? In my opinion our universe recycles it self through a constant big bang to big crunch loop that never ends or really even begins.
