Norwegian Drunk Football
The binge drinking in rome was one of the factors behind the fall of rome. It is literally a sympyom of decadence, along with orgies and sexual promiscuity,
Also, drunkenness was looked down upon since the early days of christianity, as it falls under the category of debauchery.
'The fall of rome was due to overdrinking'
I can just imagine Ceaser lying in bed hungover as fuck and his parliament is like "shit bro! Goths, viking and Gauls at the gates!" And Ceasar is like "Fuck off cunt! Im too fucking fucked to get up!"
tbh thats basically how it worked
The excess of luxury resources and slave labour basically made the general populace distanced from everything but their immediate bodily desires.
""Also, drunkenness was looked down upon since the early days of christianity"
All the more reason to get drunk.
Christianity built western civilization, m'lady
Even if that were true, so what? Nordics have
Before, during and after christianity.
Yeah, and every nordic probably walked around with horned helmets and went on raids every day.
It is like you
our heritage to be nothing but a walking satire.
Throughout most of the middle ages, and especially during the age of enlightenment and nationalromanticism, drunkenness was considered immoral.
Sure thing, buddy
Thats why christ himself turned water to wine. amidoingitright.jpg
And why he has explicitly condemned hedonism and debauchery, and why Gluttony (which, contrary to pop culture, also includes alchohol) is a deadly sin
Wearing clothes with diverse fabrics needs to be punished aswell right? And death to all heathen. amiright?
Nice meme, m'lady. Such rules, along with the abolition of swine, were considered sins not due to inherent immorality, but due to the context of the time - ie, that mixed fabrics entailed exorbirance and waste of textile, which was expensive at the time.
It is not only the bible that condemns debauchery, however, it is nearly all western philosophers, even non-christian ones. For some among many examples, see >>
You clearly don't know your history. When do you think Rome fell? overnight? the biggest change was it's split into the western and eastern sections, it was caused due to political instability because it was too big, unsustainable, but after the split it lasted several hundred years. Also, sex and "debauchery" and promiscuity are more ancient than Rome. I bet you think victorian era behavior was actually puritan, it wasn't. The church just wanted it to be, most priests probably drank and fucked in private. People like to get fucked and fuck since the beginning of history and they will continue to do so don't start condemning everyone else just because you personally don't want to express your personal freedoms
Nor do you it seems, because any idiot would know there are a multitude of factors, therein the populace's indifference to military activity as spurred by the onset of debauchery and moral decadence. The logistical factors, although equally significant, had still been managed do a decent degree in the past.
Victorian puritanism is an awful example, as it is basically the manifestation of human hypocrisy. Orgies and fetishism were especially popular then, especially under masquerade balls and such, as it had been throughout the end of the age of enlightenment as well. Yes, such behaviour will always be a plague upon humanity, as there will always be those who distance themselves from moral behaviour, however it is only in decadent society that degeneracy is explicitly condoned and celebrated as opposed to being viewed as a shameful, awful act.
>most priests probably drank and fucked in private
There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever for this claim aside from your own preconceptions. Considering the fact that priests lived amongst one another, i really doubt that they would do such a thing, especially considering the extreme degrees to which some of them expressed their devotion - i.e. by wearing horsehair robes, fasting, etc.
>express your personal freedoms
That is one hell of a euphemism. You might as well call doing drugs a "personal freedom". You express your freedom not by commiting immoral acts, but by willingly choosing
to do so. That is how freedom is truly appreciated.
a personal freedom, the freedom to
between doing and not doing drugs. Whats your ideal lifestyle anyways? that people dont fuck till theyre married and live a life of servitude to god without any sort of self-indulgence? sounds awful boring to me (and to most people, cause if you havent realized "debauchery" has always been a thing
Yet, doing drugs is nearly universally considered immoral. At any rate, it goes to show that freedom to do something does not imply that it is right to do something.
I am not christian, and no, i do not believe in "saving for marriage". I do, however, believe sex should occur exclusively within devoted relationships.
It is only boring if you are too weak of mind to find pleasure in anything else. If you ask me, such individuals are more animal than human.
Debauchery has always been a thing, but it has never been celebrated to the extent it is today. Before, it was counted as a shame, and debaucherers were often expelled from society. Not now though, the tables have turned and now you are a pariah if you avoid degeneracy.
drinking is hardly universally considered immoral, perhaps by extreme puritans. You're on the losing side of this, debauchery and drinking may have been deemed immoral by the zealous extremist religious institutions that had ruled over the world for the past ~millenia but in truth people always partied, and they will continue to, because its fun. It's a release from otherwise mundane and repetitive lives. The only difference now is that we've gotten rid of freedom oppressing religious institutions, so people are free to act how they want without fear of "eternal damnation". Go be a bore on your own
Drinking is not immoral. Drunkenness is. And no, it is not widely considered immoral anymore, but i believe that is a sign of a decadent society, i.e. aforementioned decadent rome.
The people of the past rarely partied. They did not have the resources to. It is only due to the growth in the middle class and subsequent resource abundance that hedonism has become a wide-spread trend. This has, as mentioned, occured once before, in decadent rome.
You are contradicting yourself there. You say that the "zealous extremists" hampered freedom by simply telling people they would go to hell if they acted contrary to religious doctrine. Religious institutions did not force people to not drink, they simply stated that one would be damned to hell if they did. The people running these institutions believed this as well, and if they did not, they knew that they needed to maintain these laws in order to ensure the survival of their society. People chose to avoid drinking, as they themselves believed it to be immoral as a result of the religion they adhered to.
Also, why is losing your mind and losing your sense of time and place considered a "release", and why would people choose to act in such a way as opposed to attempting to improve their mundane lives? Furthermore, i would argue drunkenness is on its own both mundane and repetitive. Hence why alcoholism is shunned.

Do you trust your own eyes?
because if recent history has taught us anything, it's that the media is oh so realible and honest.
This case may be reaching at straws, but the paintings, the mails and the entire comet ping pong thing ... let me tell you something I learned a whille ago: there are no convenient coincidences. That's a hollywood lie. Especialy not this many coincidences at once all pointing towards the same thing. SOMETHING is fucked up, beyond fucked up and it's only through recent leaks and efforts been brought close to the surface. And frankly, a part of me is afraid and disgusted of what it might be, but all the same it must be revealed. If this was all a massive coincidence streak the likes of which only a chaos god could concoct and there is no pedophilia involved ... let's just say the chances of that happening are roughly equal to the chances of north korea sudenly becoming a liberal paradise.
