Good, we agree. The government shouldn't be in the business of spending money on stupid shit. But that's not going to happen, because it's about the money. It was about the money yesterday, and it will be about the money tomorrow.

True, the amount is barely worth the time of day. It will end up costing less than a million dollars to change everything out. The problem is, that these decisions are made by the thousands every single day. A half million here, and a couple million there aren't substantial until you sit down and realize that we don't have any fucking money. We owe more than the national GDP. That's bad. Stupid shit like this needs to stop until we get our wallet under control.

the debt isn't just more than the gdp it's far far above it, as is the rest of the world to be quite frank, if you want to stop pointless government spending, stop the military industrial complex, the corporate bailouts, the private bank subsidies. Those interventions are money straight out of our economy and into some offshore tax haven

I care because I've posted it already.

You can tell when the ignorant masses are allowed to make decisions. Yes, Jackson was bad to (and a dick) the Indians and killed 2,000 and displaced 20,000. Yet Ulysses S. Grant, killed 100,000. Displaced half a million.

And we put Tubman on the pedestal. She went on 31 missions to save 300 slaves. But what about Thomas Garrett? He saved 2,700. When you couple that with the fact Tubman went on 28 of those missions to retrieve family, the heroic nature is tarnished.

This is based on folk lore, not history. This is based on race, not accomplishments. Sure Tubman worked for the end of slavery and woman suffrage. We are giving honor to a woman who helped the butcher psycho of Kansas john brown gather forces. Then when we couple that with the fact she is possible the most devoted christian in black history, how will the church and state crowd feel.

No this is just a feel good decision. Nothing steeped in history significance like some make you believe.

But hey, Jackson will still be on the back of the bill and that alone will still rustle some jimmies.

Plus we'll eventually phase out paper money so I only see this as a temporary victory for any SJW/PC/BLM advocates.

Personally, I care because the US is in debt pretty deep, but we continue to spend money on shit we don't need. It costs money to create new plates. Money that could be used more efficiently in just about any way. Like, they could have not spent that money, and it would have been used more efficiently. That's how bad an idea it is to just arbitrarily change money. Same thing with the stupid fucking state quarters.

that amount of money spent is so minuscule that you're actually talking out of your ass. I bet you're alright with the grotesquely large military budget though

Well I originally pointed out the double standard as a joke. For once, I wasn't actually looking to start a debate with anyone on social media, but considering the social/political climate at the moment debates are sort of inevitable I guess

That's not the point. It is widely believed that it is too dangerous to buy products/services from unregulated, unlicensed parties. Yet they won't hesitate to buy some shit in a bag from a random guy on a street corner and then ingest it in some form or another. Why is it when it comes to their drug purchases, these fears suddenly fly out the door?

If only there was some sort of quality control. Or any sort of regulations. Its almost like it is contraband...
User avatar
#8 - mikepetru (04/21/2016) [-]
Then while it is still illegal and unregulated, it is obviously too risky to consume, since it could be dangerous/tampered with and you can't exactly sue the manufacturer. Yet lots of people buy and consume it anyway, which makes me wonder how concerned they really are with making sure everything is regulated/tested for quality by the government/etc. That's the point I was trying to make.

#9 - elsenortamatoe (04/21/2016) [-]
It falls into a specific mentality
"Why should I save my money? SS will take care of me"
"Why should I work? Social programs will give me food and shelter"
"Why should I care what I ingest? FDA will sue if I get hurt"
"Why should I have a gun? The police will protect me"

And weed looks like weed. You could smoke the wrong plant, but the only way to lace it is to rub crap on it.

Well you're lumping everyone into the same group, in my experience most of the "hippies" i know despise the fda, there's also the notion of products being 'natural' or whatever. Not saying your point is completely invalid just not that relevant considering people always have double standards
