Tell you what, if you're on active service now go ahead and look through Wikileaks. When you're blocked let me know.

As to the second point that isn't an answer, it's a deflection. Unless I've massively misunderstood your point, by your own reasoning it is unnecessary for civilians to own guns as the military is able to protect them; The only legitimate reasons being hobbies and self defence.

Have I misunderstood?

Wiki leaks isn't blocked for me because I have my own computer on my own network at my own house off a government base. Just cause I'm military doesn't mean I'm constantly controlled by the government. And you have misunderstood me the point is not that the military will protect you the point is you have to be prepared in case it doesn't. Most likely they won't come after you in the night but somebody might. Our country is very clearly split on this issue and those who want your guns may decide and try to take them.

You'd think so but the Stanford Experiment and the findings of MKUltra and KUBARK related experiments say otherwise.

Soldiers obey orders, especially when they're told they're doing the right thing, which they can be easily convinced of since active service personnel have restricted access to information.

At any rate that's not what I asked you. My question was: If trained soldiers are willing and able to defect or refuse to carry out their orders then why is it necessary to have an armed civilian population?

First of all we're not restricted access to information. And second of all on armed populace is supposed to keep the government from even thinking about crossing the boundaries. It's all about checks and balances. We also own guns for more than just protecting against tyranny. We own the for personal defense, for collecting, for hunting or just for the pleasure of shooting.

Blaming and noticing are two different thing.
We have gained nearly 5 million population since the gun legislation and it is mainly from immigrants, who surprise surprise cause a lot of our crime.

So did the amount of immigrants from somalia and other parts of africa.
Gee coincidence?
Seen as they commit a large majority of the crime over here i think not.

If that was true then where do the peasants fit in?

I'm not necessarily disagreeing but Anon is correct to an extent.

Government forces are just regular people too and because most of them became government forces to shoot bad guys and blow shit up they love their guns. When the government try's to take that away we get upset too. Also why would I want to go and fight with my neighbors for a cause I disagree with. Most of the armed forces leaders don't agree with the way our government is headed and they're starting to stand against what's happening.
