That was a computer engineer expressing his opinion on a linguistic matter. I don't see what that has to do with the APA - the American *Psychological* Association - expressing their opinion on a *psychological* matter.

I had someone tell me they didnt like Pac-man frogs because the spots looked too hole-y and it freaked them out. Then I showed her a surinam toad and she hyperventilated and almost passed out.. definitely a real phobia.

Not to invalidate your experiences or anything, but the Wikipedia page I posted clearly states that it's not recognized by the APA as a real phobia. I know it sounds like an authority appeal fallacy, but until they or another group equally credible officially recognizes it and has the scientific proof to back it up, it can't be factually called a true phobia. It just doesn't match the rigor required.

I feel like a lot of people claim this after they see what a bot fly does, none of the people I know who claim that phobia didn't claim it until after we leaned about bot flies in zoology

While I respect this post, and it is very accurate, you also repeat the same thing several times over and probably could've trimmed off two paragraphs worth of text just taking out things you already said.

That's like if I was making a post responding to you and I re-iterated on things I already said in the previous paragraph of the same post, it would be repeating the thing more than necessary.

By repeating it more than necessary I'm really just saying the same things I already said, but in a new paragraph like it was a new idea.

So from this we can learn that all the previous paragraphs weren't really necessary but I was just using them as a way to repeat everything I already said, even though they weren't necessary and just makes my post look more wordy.

Yeah, I know. I'm irrationally afraid of people misunderstanding me, so I ramble a lot. But thanks for the positive feedback.
