Came from a story Kevin Smith found on the internet, a classifieds ad in a local newspaper or something where this guy was looking for a "lodger" (roommate), and the ad featured the man telling a story about how he was once stranded on an island with a walrus as his only company. He developed a weird emotional bond with the walrus and at some point the walrus either died, or the guy got rescued and couldn't take the walrus with him, I forget. But essentially the guy was like, "I'll let you live in my house for free, all you gotta do is wear this walrus costume and act like a walrus for a couple hours each day, speak only as a walrus, catch the fish I throw to you, and that's that."

Sadly, it was later discovered that the story was fake, and Kevin Smith had the guy who wrote the ad on his podcast to interview him and ask how he felt about the fact that his fake ad inspired a movie. It was all very weird.

You won't believe how surprised I was that Johnny Depp was in it, they didn't advertise that at all and I thought it was going to be too low budget to have an actor like that in it but that's what makes it better

here's a link to the movie's IMDB page. it's really not worth watching, but if you want to judge for yourself. here it is. www.imdb.com/title/tt3099498/

it's called Tusk. justin long plays a podcast shock jock with haley joel osment, and he travels all over the world looking for freaky stories to cover on his show. he goes to canada to interview some kid that cut his leg off accidentally while filming a youtube video but finds out the kid killed himself (shows up during the funeral) and instead of that he goes searching for this guy that wants to share his life story. turns out the guy is a psycho that wants to turn him into a walrus. johnny depp plays an investigator working on the case of all the missing people this guys has kidnapped and killed over the years.

yeah i went to a small cheap local college. 31k. ridiculous isnt it
#159 - anon (09/30/2015) [-]
36k got me through 4 years. 2 years at a community college (~4k) and then 2 (32k) at my university. Said university was pretty prestigious for environmental engineering disciplines too and shockingly cheap. Kind of depends on where you live though. I was fortunate enough to live close enough to both schools that I could just drive there from my home and thus get in-state tuition and the special grant from the state for being in-state.

Personally it really seems dumb to go to a 4-year university for 4 years. My community college had a pretty much guaranteed transfer program to the university if you were an STEM student (the uni was on for STEM disciples) and I spent a small fraction there then at the uni. If more people did that they could nearly cut their costs in half.

But that's just my two cents on the matter.

My university is $12k resident and $32k non-resident. It's a good thing that I'm a resident.
User avatar
#140 - zxmongoose (09/30/2015) [-]
Mine is like $9k resident and $38k non, it's ridiculous. That's why I'm going for residency.
User avatar
#177 - captchakid (09/30/2015) [-]
It's that much for non-residents because they're including living expenses. I know for sure that you're not including anything but tuition in your $9k.
User avatar
#242 - zxmongoose (10/01/2015) [-]
Oh, non-resident tuition alone is still $27,000

What?

"Where are you from in Israel ? "
You're assuming that I'm in Isreal?

Or

"Where are you from, Israel ? "
No.
