I'm totally lost with this foxhole thing... is a foxhole supposed to represent a dangerous situation or something?

Fox hole means that you're backed into a corner and facing almost certain death. I believe it's referencing to the tactic of forcing a fox to run to its den, and then smoking it out of one end, while waiting to shoot it at the other exit.

Either yours or AdamBaum's explanation seem believable enough =D

I think they're probably both true. The military term probably came from the hunting term. Because it was generally when they were pinned down with nowhere to go except towards the gunfire.

I love that quote because there is literally an organization called "foxhole atheists".

Well, Some people noticed something else about the totems, during the movie they said the totem would only work for the person it belonged to and the spinning top belonged to his wife, so it wouldn't work for him, I think his wedding ring is his totem since he is only wearing it when in reality which means the ending is also reality.

Yeah I've heard that a number of times but I haven't watched the film for a while so I haven't checked, fact he explains that in reality the top won't fall kinda voids the point of a totem since he explains only 1 person should know its weight etc..

Let me tell you, that last scene added so much more depth to the movie. If we had seen it fall over we would've known Cobb's fate. The mystery makes the movie so much more memorable, and it was already great to begin with.

The ending for the film was a great way to end it since it gives that sense of mystery, but when you look at it closely there are other parts where it could switch between dream and reality without us knowing.

Whether they were intended or just mistakes is an entirely different matter

Only once? Now that I think about it, Saito distracted him from looking at the totem in one scene and we never actually saw if it fell over.

Only once from what I remember, he also drops it on the floor after waking in a panic and never tried to spin it again.
