if people want to kill people, they will do it with a gun, a bomb, a knife, a sword, bow and arrow, a fuckin rock, or even a stick. Go look at china, some dude recently stabbed 20 fuckers and some like 78 year old grandma with a knife. YEA gun control really keeps murders and violence down!

Criminals don't obey the law, even if guns were completely illegal in any form here, they would STILL get guns.
#72 - anon (12/16/2012) [-]
If you're going to cite recent violence with non-firearm weapons, at least do so fully. All victims of the recent China stabbing survived while the same cannot be said for the victims of the recent shooting.
User avatar
#66 - Triskiller (12/16/2012) [-]
The point is that not all these shootings were done by registered criminals. Most of these shootings were done with legally purchased firearms, and most of these shootings were done in a fit of rage. Sure it's possible someone will buy a gun from the illegal circuit, but that circuit's prices will rise like crazy once guns are outlawed, so it will only be an option for those that REALLY want to shoot someone. So rage shootings and all that will happen less and less, most of those teens that shot up their schools would just jump in front of a train instead.

I don't know why you people are so blind to the fact that other countries that have banned guns have an incredibly low homicide rate compared to America. If that's not enough for you to give up your right to guns, then I don't know what is.

I wouldn't feel safe walking around town knowing everyone and their mother has a gun.. I don't know how you do it.

User avatar

Because I can. No one opinions should matter to anyone yet we all express them
User avatar
#50 - Triskiller (12/12/2012) [-]
Should not matter, but they do. It's not just retards that are influenced by opinions, because I'm willing to bet you that half the people that hate on the book right now in this comment section haven't read it.

But that's fine, just trying to share my opinion on it and maybe sway someone into reading the complete thing without immediately thinking Holden Caulfield is a whiny bitch.

Cheers.

no I read it half the way though and it was the second worst book I ever read.
User avatar
#11 - Triskiller (12/12/2012) [-]
Well you didn't read it well, then. The book is very heavy emotionally and it's a very realistic look at the world through the eyes of a teenager and all insecurities that come with it. It's very taboo heavy and that's why it was banned for some time, but it also features one of the most loveable assholes ever to have graced the literary landscapes. Because Holden Caulfield isn't an asshole, he's a teenager that just doesn't know what he wants, like every other teenager ever. And he makes all the wrong choices, and he realizes this over time. He's despised for it, not only by his peers but by his family, and everyone seems to hate him. There's one person that he's aware of that doesn't hate him, and she's out of his reach.

It's heartbreaking I tell you.

Read it.

User avatar
#22 - bostpost (12/12/2012) [-]
nah, I read it all the way through. He's not emotionally imbalanced, he's a bitch that never stops complaining and keeps calling things phony. This is the biggest hipster book in the history of hipster literature. It's not sad, it's pathetic.
User avatar
#12 - sparkyoneonetwo (12/12/2012) [-]
No not reading that book ever you go a head and think what ever you want about that book and there are lots of people that love that book but, I fucking hated it and there ain't nothing wrong with that you know because I'm allowed to hate or like what ever I want.
User avatar
#15 - Triskiller (12/12/2012) [-]
That's true, but saying it sucks is different than saying you think it's not good.

It's a good book, but you have every right to not like it, just don't tell me it sucks.
User avatar
#16 - sparkyoneonetwo (12/12/2012) [-]
but, saying it sucks is just my opinion saying it sucks is just the same as saying I hated it just with other words.
User avatar
#17 - Triskiller (12/12/2012) [-]
Saying it sucks is not expressing an opinion, it's expressing an opinion like it's a fact.
User avatar
#18 - sparkyoneonetwo (12/12/2012) [-]
Saying it sucked is my opinion my opinion of that book is that is sucked. Don't make it a fact. What you just said is pretty fucking dumb....
User avatar
#20 - Triskiller (12/12/2012) [-]
"oh god why that book sucks so much"

Is not saying: "I thought that book sucked so much."

It's presenting your opinion as a fact, yet it's not. It's misleading to people that have not yet read the book.
User avatar
#21 - sparkyoneonetwo (12/12/2012) [-]
if you take that as a fact you are an idiot

it's my opinion not matter how you say your opinions don't make them a fact.

and even saying it like "I thought that book sucked so much." would mislead people into thinking things about the book if they've not read it.

Just like before I read it I heard all kinds of stuff form other kids and teacher about how good of a book it was I was excited to read it turns out it fucking sucked.
User avatar
#35 - Triskiller (12/12/2012) [-]
It's a very subtle difference, but it does make your opinion sound more valid than it actually is.
User avatar
#36 - sparkyoneonetwo (12/12/2012) [-]
and anyone that goes around taking the opinions of some random dude on the internet that seriously should probably rethink what they are doing with there lives.

Just cuz I say it sucks means nothing the whole fucking world could hate something and yet still on person might like it what other people say shouldn't mean anything to anyone
User avatar
#37 - Triskiller (12/12/2012) [-]
That's a very nice view of the world, but it doesn't work that way. People are influenced by everything, you just said it yourself, and the slightest thing could change the way they think. If someone passes up on readin The Catcher in the Rye because you said it sucks, that's another uninformed person.

I'm not saying it makes a big difference, but making clear you are stating your opinion helps a lot. Stating like it's a fact (not saying you were saying it was a fact) makes it easier for people to justify not their choice of not reading the book.

It's subtle, but it's still important.
User avatar
#38 - sparkyoneonetwo (12/12/2012) [-]
It's stupid not important. If any person seriously takes what I said and don't want to read it cuz of that it's just pure stupidity.

It's not like I'm some book book critic I even said I didn't read the whole thing cuz I hated it that much

anyone that choses to not read a book cuz some random ass dude that's not even read the whole thing says it sucks is retarded in my eyes
User avatar
#41 - Triskiller (12/12/2012) [-]
