He probably means that the exercises would be different to accommodate for a lack of a bar bell. You possibly could but it would be harder I think, since you would have to effectively have a ton of weights to manage it. Also some things may not be safe to do for lack of stability.

I honestly would recommend joining a facility that is going to provide you with quality equipment so you can do this safely. I suppose though if you are starting with really low weight that could wait some time.

If I max at my gym I'm with my friend and someone else. I usually max at the end of each month to see how much I've improved, it's usually about 10-15 pounds for legs and 5 for bench

I have my brother help spot me if I need it. But I tend to stick to keeping my lifts to where I have a few reps left in the tank and I rarely train til failure. When I do actually check for a max it's usually a huge leap. Which is fun.

I usually never train till failure except deadlift and curls because I don't want to risk hurting something. I'll usually find a good weight and do sets of 1-3. Yesterday I did bench 245x2 5 sets, enough to build strength and about 85% effort

That's not bad. My last max was 235. But it was a few months ago and I did 225 for a set of 3 at one point recently for fun.

I would advise getting stronger get in higher rep ranges too, like 5-8. Doing phases of strength and then hypertrophy will keep you from stalling out as much in the long run. I'm doing sets of 12 with bench right now. Once I hit around 185-195 for 12 I'll move back to sets of 3-5.

I used to go 8-6-3 on bench, but now I'm just sticking with 1-3. Lower reps at higher weight for strength, lower weight at higher reps for looks

Same. However I find that I have lots of disadvantages too like no spotter, no machines, ect.

What equipment do you have? Any machines?
Also how much did your home gym approx cost you?

I have a rack, so it's actually safer than lifting with a spotter.

I have an adjustable rack, a barbell, a couple adjustable dumbbells, a vertical cable pull and a horizontal cable pull, a bench, and about 600+lbs of weight. Most of it was used, and I got a really good deal on all of it, but it's valued at about 2000 dollars. That's my estimate, anyway.

Deload? Dude, someone at your level should never fucking 'deload'. Deloading is an advanced technique used by people deadlifting more that 700lbs. Not a single person on this whole board will ever need to deload for a loonnng ass time - assuming they keep lifting for a loonnng ass time.
