Why don't they just make a station that would serve as a dock then? You know a station for constructing ships. You could get ships, that would be otherwise impossible to lift through the atmo, into the space. This would mean more cargo could be carried, more fuel, more people, more tech etc. etc.

I wanted to say that. But yeah, one of the hardest parts to getting into space is leaving the earth.

Then we could reverse-moonshot stuff we drop on moon from other planets back to Earth, so we let the momentum take the charge of getting the stuff to Earth. Of course before we can actually start colonizing planets, we need a Central Government. Otherwise it turns to shit.

Or at least a UN that has power. Though I guess that would itself be a form of government. We need a government for our governments.

Or have only 1 government. We can't colonize until we learn to live equally between every inhabitant on Earth.

A singular government is ideal. But we still have people slaughtering each other because of a difference in their gods. Unless something that would be quite literally revolutionary happens, I don't see that happening any time soon.

Also. It is a lot better to test our devices and experimental technologies locally rather than chuck it at mars and hope it works.
