I think that's the best way of looking at it, and the only logical outcome.

I personally think that Salmond's gamble is just too risky. If something goes wrong with Independent Scotland, it'll take years, maybe decades to fix.

What's the position of the EU on this, and what is the Scottish pro-independence parties position on the EU? (I haven't paid attention 'cause I'm foreign, but I'm interested)

The EU have already said that Independent Scotland will not be a part of it. Any applications would be rejected. I don't think the YES brigade want to be in the EU anyway.

There are also UK groups who want out of the EU due to its controversial immigration policies.

Has the EU said if it will allow an independent Scotland to be a part of the EFTA tho?

I'm not actually sure. Might have to look that one up.

So let's just slap a 4 over that 6, and my point stands.

I think if you look at the whole independence debate, both sides have valid points. This is the same with most political issues. Personally, I don't like being ran by a government I didn't vote for but I don't think our economy is strong enough on its own. I shall be voting NO

I've had this argument before; can't remember the specifics.

Could just be that I'm getting mixed up.

Probably. It's a debated issue in Scottish History. Watch CGP Grey's video on how Scotland joined the UK. It explain's everything.
