the point i was trying to make is they claim the number of hunters is going down by showing it as a percentage of population. which goes back to my original point of that being how studies manipulate data. gun ownership continues to increase, gun sales continue to increase the number of hunters generally stays the same due mainly to controls to prevent over hunting. so if population and gun ownership increase, and the number of hunters remains the same, the % of hunters decreases making it look like there are less hunters even tho that isnt true at all.

although there can be denied checks, you can only run a check when a sale is taking place. in the entire history of the nics check, there have been only around 2 million denied out of around 237 million checks.

with less than a 1% rate of denied, thats insignificant compared to the number of people that buy more than one gun.

if you need a source on how i know people buy multiple guns, i work in a gun shop. i have never had a check and no sale (without it being denied) and ive been doing this for 4 years

ok, so firearm-related homicides were 8124 in 2014, and my source says 3.43 per 100,000 in 2014. Well let's see...population in 2014 was 319 million. Maybe our wires are crossed or they meant from 100,000 deaths or something.

but regardless: if the same fallible measurement system was used for all countries and the USA is 13-33x worse, then it's bad, no?

I'm fairly certain the Aurora mass shooting in 2012 consisted of an AR. A Smith & Wesson M&P15 to be exact. Which was accompanied by a semi automatic and a handgun. Even if one mass shooter didn't have the money to acquire an AR, I'm sure they would settle for a submachine gun, carbines and shotguns (both used by the Columbine shooters) or multiple handguns. The idea is the same.

All of the guns in Aurora were semi-automatic. And as far as mass shootings go, they only account for a VERY small percentage of gun homicides in the US. Overall, violent crimes in America have declined almost 50% since the 90's, and we are currently at about a 50 year low for crime rates. They haven't been as low as they are today since 1968. Saying that mass shootings are increasing as a reason to regulate guns is just cherry picking a single crime that fits your agenda. Even if mass shootings are up, overall murder rates are steadily and drastically declining.
