Best writing? The entire fucking arc was the narrator talking about how everything was connected, how the tactics were and what all the persons thought. Less stuff happening than in DBZ fights, and most of it was completely unnecessary.

Spoiler cuz I'm gonna hit them specifics

So In my opinion Kite was awesome.

Killing the ants with Kite was stupid.

Learning how to fight against Knuckle was awesome.

EVerything and anything to do with Palm was super lame

Palace invasion was the worst thing i ever suffered the whole way through in an anime

Pretty much all of the Ant protagonists and antagonists were stupid characters (except the speedy dude)

The new background music introduced in the arc to present creepiness sounded like a brick in a washing machine and would give me a head ache after any more than an episode

The battle between the King and Netero was awesome.

The King playing Gungi was pretty cool too

I call bull shit that Hisoka didnt hear about and want to fight the ants

All and all it had its phenomenal ups, but the downs came much harsher much more often. I prefer literally every other arc in the show.

All shonens do that thing where they suffer from it. Bleach had like two or three arcs of "Ichigo lost his powers!" and they always find a way to get it back. That is the shonen part, they always find a way to get it back.

I actually hate that. No matter how the main character suffers or whatever double edged sword they use, they always bounce back from it.

I really hope that isn't the case since this show doesn't have much cliche things as compared to the average shonen.

Do you think that I should start from the beginning again with the manga, or just start after 339?

The anime did miss a lot of key points.

But they are not too important.

Just watch the 99' version up to the end of heaven's arena since it doesn't miss much.

Start at chapter 338 or 339 because you'll be able to tell when the anime ended.

At the end of the chapter, it shows Komugi and Mereum holding hands. That was a small scene in the final episode.
