I guess it's really hard to prove whether something is good or bad because something like that is so objective. I can see i wont make any headway in this argument and therefore concede.

define a "bad" movie, because one that you dont particularly like wont cut it.

It more than tripled its budget in gross profits at the box office, and got about an average of 7/10 stars from most reviewers. This prettymuch proves it wasn't a terrible movie as you say.

Oh yeah, totally. Because box office performance and stats you pulled from IMDb are the proven marks of quality for movies.
Independence Day is a big, dumb event movie. It isn't made for the plot, or to tell a story. It's a bunch of set pieces and one liners that the masses like, and it knows that and embraces it. It's catered to the lowest common denominator, and it did really well at that. So congrats to them for catching that lightning in a bottle. And if you enjoyed it, then good on you. But don't go telling my that it's a genuinely good movie, because it's just not true.

if you didn't like the first one, why would we listen to your opinion on how the second one is? Most of us want to see it because of nostalgic value because we loved the first one

Because the first one is a legitimately bad movie. People enjoy it, sure. But it's objectively crap. I don't get the appeal, but clearly other people do, and giving things a pass based solely on nostalgia is moronic

DO RESEARCH ON WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GO WATCH TO SEE IF YOU'LL STILL WANT TO SEE IT INSTEAD OF LISTENING TO SOME DUDE ON FJ WHO DIDN'T EVEN LIKE THE FIRST MOVIE TO BEGIN WITH.

He didn't use caps lock. He actually used proper capitalization. He just made the text bigger but you are right you shouldn't just trust a random persons opinion, you should do research or find somebody that tends to have a similar taste.

This makes me sad to no end. I've waited many many years for this sequel. ID is one of my favorite movies of all time. I could tell from the trailer it might be a poorly-written, over-the-top CGI action flick, and from the sounds of it my predictions are correct so far.

Does anyone know a site or anything I can stream it rather than going to see it in the theater? No torrent sites have it. Don't feel like going to the theaters and breaking a $20 for a sub-par movie.

If you go in expecting a dumb summer action blockbuster, it's pretty good. If you go in expecting a good sequel to Independence Day, you'll be disappointed.

why shouldn't i see it?

is it just a cash grab, or is it some kinda Ghostbusters: The One With Chicks shit?

#4 - TehFunnyMan (7 hours ago) [-]
It's literally just another boring, mindless, ball-numbing alien invasion movie, that also manages to have totally shit action.
Whatever qualities the original one had, this does not.
I didn't even like the original one, and this was just worse. If you liked the first one, then watch the first one again.

He was pretty good. He definitely added more than the 8th and war doctor.

The kist can't possibly be best to worst. 7th would never make it that high. But reading it worst to best means having 6th rate better than 2, 11 and 12. What?

#27 - sketchysketchist (19 hours ago) [-]
That's what I'm saying.

I know not everyone shares the same tastes, but everyone's list is very similar, especially with the most liked doctors.

i can see that. but comedy is all connected. stand up comedians end up being the writers or actors for comedy movies or tv shows. it's part of the career path.
