well, except it's not. I'm not for gun control at all, but if there is one piece of legislation that actually stops criminals from getting guns and doesn't affect the law abiding citizen. such is for all the cases, if there are laws in place that actually stops criminals from getting ivory/drugs/alcohol I guess the alcohol one is no longer relevant, but I'm still using it for my point and selling it illegally then I'm for it. but time and time again we see that just out right banning it doesn't work.

If it's banned outright, it's illegal.
That's what I'm trying to get at. Like the post shows, simply banning things doesn't work. But the only other option is to keep it legal with rules and regulations. Either way, it won't end the problem completely, but banning or making the issue illegal is better than keeping it all perfectly legal.

How so? There's really only two options, keep them legal (and obviously set out regulations) or make them outright illegal.
