I dunno. I didn't have a good photo of me smiling, in my opinion. Not the most photogenic of people.

Yea, that makes sense. I always thought that it was called "metalcore" because it's "core" influence was metal. Thank you for an indepth and better explanation than "core isn't metal faggot" I'm not trying to argue I just want information lol

Wouldn't that just mean that it's metal with punk influences though?

Sort of! There are exceptions here and there though. For instance, I used very strict definitions for my initial explanation.

Let me start with metalcore. Metalcore, in it's purest form is a fusion of thrash metal, melodic death metal, hardcore punk, and New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands. Essentially, they have the harmonized riffs of the NWoBHM in somewhat lower tunings, combined with the use of song structures found in melodic death metal (an entirely different beast of it's own) and breakdowns from hardcore punk but in the heavier context.

Now deathcore is basically a fusion of *that* with straight death metal. Primarily taking the metalcore harmonized riffs, making them darker, lower, and heavier, and putting more emphasis on the breakdown.

It's a very complex issue, and I hope this clarifies it a bit better.

can you explain to me why people don't like the breakdown?
I've listened to dozens of bands, from thrash to metalcore to black to death to deathcore and back again. I have no idea why breakdowns are so hated; more often their additions are a highlight to a song. It doesn't even seem a big enough deal to create such arguments over.
#56 - Supaevilman (03/23/2015) [-]
Because in certain subgenres, breakdowns are so overdone that they lose their impact; or their novelty, if you will. When a song is excellently written and structured properly, a well timed breakdown can be THE high point of the song. But frequently, bands resort to using breakdowns as one of the main components of their songs, which means that the concept of a breakdown loses that WOW! factor that makes it so powerful.

So the reason that breakdowns are hated (or given lots of shit, if nothing else) is because they're so obligatory that it's no longer new or interesting. It becomes "Oh, great, ANOTHER breakdown." It can become a crutch for bad songwriting far too easily.

I honestly prefer deathcore. I like the deep bassy sound. I just like how it sounds more
#33 - Supaevilman (03/22/2015) [-]
That there may just be due to the mixing on each of those two examples, rather than a preference due to the musical content itself.

I see. Thank you for clarifying that.
It seems I like death metal more, mainly due to the fact that I hate the scream vocals.
You have enlightened me

I really hope it helps. I'm not the hugest death metal fan, so some info *may* be slightly off. This should give you a general idea, though.

I've only watched dubbed, but then again, the show never makes sense anyway. If you're unsure, then try subbed.
