I know right?
I've lived in the US all my life and never once have I even seen a military vehicle in operation, much less do I feel like our nation is using it's military to suppress me and my peers.
Also if being applied to the US what the fuck do they mean neglects social inequality? What fucking social inequality are they talking about at this point? the Social inequality that drunks/drug addicts don't get treated as well as all the nice hard working folk? oh boo hoo I feel so bad for them. If you're talking about Racial inequality on a nation wide level that's fucking bullshit and you know if it and if you're talking about gender inequality on a nation wide level that's just a joke. Hell the only reason we have any inequality at all left on those fronts is because people are given the freedom to see the world as it is and make up their own minds about it on an individual level and even that's getting done away with, it's basically illegal to be racist/sexist in the US these days, try to get anymore equality from the nation and they will have to start internally suppressing their citizens.
plus while the military budget for the US is huge it hasn't exactly been increasing with any sort of rapidity, it just went way up during world war 2 and never went down because all of the other allied forces decided to start scrapping their military forces and someone had to retain a presence in the days to follow to make sure no one country decided it would be worth the risk to try their hands at world war 3.

Social inequality as in middle and working class shouldering 32% of tax burden while holding 17% of nation's wealth, while top 5% pay 41% of tax burden while holding 72% of the wealth.
Corporate welfare costs us more than social welfare in the same time. Meaning we are destroying our middle and working class to make it easier for rich to get richer.
That's what we are talking about when we talk about social inequality. Not those that don't work, but those that work really hard, and keep being poorer and poorer all the same.

yeah but that doesn't apply to the oc because it specifies using the military to suppress people. Plus comparing a shitty economic system that's some somewhat biased against the lower class to military suppression is laughable at best and at worst just down right ignorant at worst.

I was responding to your first hidden text, not to everything in general. You asked what does social inequality means, and I replied.
But just because you haven't personally seen it, it doesn't mean its not being done.
Massive militarization of the US police is a problem. Even some senators commented on it.
And its a growing problem. Local police deparments are getting military grade APCs, missile launchers and weaponary. Veterans have been describing local police having better and deadlier equipment than they had in Iraq.
When police is acting like a military, citizens should be concerned. Police is there to serve and protect. Military to fight wars. If police is like a military, then its citizens who are seen as the enemy.
Google militarization of USA police, read the creepy examples.
And that militarization is more and more funded by the civil forfeiture. Police can take your property, money, land, house etc. without ever CHARGING you with anything, if they SUSPECT (not be able to prove, suspect) that property was used or was going to be used in a crime.
Sure, all that is not as bad as whats happening in really messed up places, but things don't get all bad all at once. They take our liberties little by little, they makes us scared little by little, they give police power to supress us little by little. And worst of all, they do it slow enough that we keep getting used to it.
Just because its not happening to you it doesn't mean its not happening, and that its not scary.
