Are you saying people just create stories on the internet? Who would do such a thing
One) if you believe Sins' source, quixoticphoenix, you should take down your post. Nothing wrong with leaving it up, if you have some doubt, in fact cudos to you for presenting "both sides" even if one is an unsubstantiated rumor, and the other is a pretentiously authoritative source.
Two) if you believe Snopes, quixoticphoenix, then you are a raving lunatic. Shame on you for giving them any heed, or promoting them, simply because some of what they say sometimes has dubious basis in fact, or they used to have some credibility, which they have since spent.
Fucking snopes. Google owned verification website.
I trust it about as much as fake news cnn.
fun story nonetheless.
I love the story
. I just wish it was a real conversation, I only recently discovered otherwise..
It's a shame, thought it very believable.
they're good for most things, but politics? steer clear
That's what they want you to think.
Still a good point.
if it never happened how could he be connected to it?
It sorta evolved form a completely different story, and one of the re-writers of the joke decided to use the general's name for it.
It might be fake, but damn it's a good point.
I wish it was clearer that it was fake (maybe quixoticphoenix could sticky your comment) but in the end, it's honestly a solid point.
People with cars are equipped to perform vehicle attacks, but almost all people don't do it. It's the tiniest amount of people doing it.
People with reasonably good bodies are equipped to perform prostitution, but almost all people don't do it. Again, it's the tiniest amount of people doing it.
People with guns and gun knowledge are equipped to perform mass shootings, but almost nobody does it. And here we see the same trend: It's only the lowest of the low in these groups that actually do it.
Of course, I may just be rambling at this point.
Maybe a tiny ramble, but all of what you said seems sound.
That's still no reason to give out rocket launchers to everyone.
As long as it serves a proper purpose, which it seems like this does, sure.
But let's not get carried away.
Small arms ≠ RPG
People simply want to be able to stand a chance against anything that comes their way with the intent of causing harm, and in the U.S. their 2nd Amendment revolves around being able to stand a chance against a corrupt government turning their military against the people
An RPG would be very handy against a corrupt government.
Ayyyy he actually did it
You shouldn't ruin a good story with too much truth
Problems arrive if a fantasy or creative metaphor is accepted as an actual event. A real person was also attached to the story without consent, which is also wrong.
