Just wanted to check in with you, brothers.
This game is like a hybrid of dark souls, with monsters.
I especially like the upgrading system where you actually have to find the ingredients.
I am having a blast on hard mode, because I like a challenge, and this game definitely tests you from the beginning.
Great suggestion, I do not regret buying it.

Quick guide on how to get the git gud experience in Dragons Dogma:
1-make a logic, heroic character that fits the world aestetic. Make it melee. Pick hard mode.
2-create a waifu of supporting class
3-keep them equipped with items that are logical and look good togheter(leather, iron)
4-hire pawns that don't look completely retarded or wear shiny purple green and red armors
5-prepare to fight and get rekt by extremely powerful monsters
6-with occasional euphoria of triumphing against a white hydra
7-spend almost all first playthrough thinking "shit plot"
8-get to the end
9-get to the REAL end
10-prepare for the ride of your life, swell with Nietzche and existentialism

Its not an MMO its just multiplayer? Instead of Pawns its 3 other peoples
#394 - anon (05/05/2015) [-]
Yeah, I find that very disappointing. I was hoping for a proper sequel, not an MMO that will be dead a year after release.

"Huh, this thing looks pretty neat, I wonder why I have never hea..."
PS3/XBOX 360 only
"Oh ... "
I can't even fathom why people make PS and Xbox exclusive games? Surely making the game run on windows OS can't be that hard and that IS where the largest amount of players is. It's like they're so far in promoting their chosen console that they disregard all the money they could get if they don't.
#242 - anon (05/05/2015) [-]
There's no point in making any platform exclusive games. Companies would make more if they expanded games to each platform- Pc, Xbox, and PS. It's just a bad business move, IMO.
#129 - anon (05/05/2015) [-]
It's a shame too, since the game runs pretty poorly. It could really do with a beefier system.

sirgawain sircool hotschurl ragingdouchbag and paraigon
for all of your honest advice and reviews. This sounds like a game that somehow got no coverage but needed to be owned. Also explains why I never see copies at used game stores: Nobody ever wants to give it up!
Genuine thanks to all of you, consider me sold as I said before, and thanks for putting up with my silliness last night!

multiplayer on original game is sharing your custom made follower/waifu/reference dude. There is a sequel coming out for ps4 which is it, online.
iffy on replay value, some things change on replay. It's the boss fights that are the selling point of this game. Climb on creatures, chopping off limbs by attacking spots. being soaked with water effects attacks, and amount of stuff you carry effects your speed.

Did you not play the DLC?
That shit was like they mixed in Dark Souls with Dragons Dogma, all the monsters turned into bigger twisted disgusting versions of themselves with all kinds of nasty shit throughout the entire huge dungeon full of traps and literally DEATH ITSELF
....Like seriously... Death Floating around with a Lantern and Scythe... 1 hit kills.... your entire party...
#86 - sircool (05/05/2015) [-]
not as huge scale, but picture a dab of that, dragon age's party style, near saint's row tier character customization, and two awesome ending boss fights. With a bit of dead soul's difficulty ramp. Not totally dead souls, but up there.
Talking doesn't do it justice, here's my fav boss type to fight in the game to tell you the scale. I think it might be the largest, only smaller than some dragons/drakes in it. Haven't played dark arisen yet to compare though.
#93 - waffies (05/05/2015) [-]
I can only assume you meant drk souls. Only ever got into one dragon age game and never got close to beating, so i've got a vague approximation of that. Customation is fun though!
What's dark arisen?
And speaking of "boss scale", thats smaller than both SotC and a few Dark Souls minibosses, but the sheer RPG-ness of it, instant health potion cast and seeing you and your teammmates jump onto its necks, makes that video pretty sweet. Again, I don't LOOK at it and think "oh this is a numbers game" or "this is a skill game", it looks somewhere imbetween.
Thanks for tips, i'll keep an eye out for it at gamestop or such, or maybe sequel when i've got an income of my own to burn on a ps4
Legit thanks. Sorry for any typos. Have an awesome night!

if you want another opinion, i think the game's fuckin awesome. Easily in the top 5 of best single player games I've ever played. The only real issue it has, there is a LOT of travelling - by foot. You basically have the big city in the middle of the world map which you can teleport to, but everything else you have to walk, and there is no fast travel or mounts. On the plus side though, there's a lot to discover in the world, like random encounters, miniquests or small secrets, so that makes it a lot more bearable.
Should you decide to get it, get Dark Arisen (it's a dlc/addon to the normal game), personally I haven't played it but I've heard a lot of good things about it, one of which being that it adds a second city and a few more teleport locations, which reduces the travelling you have to do.
But that's really the only big issue about the game, there ore some other mild inconveniences, but at least twice their number of things that i really loved about the game.
It's a PS3 / XB360 exclusive title though, which is unfortunate if you don't own any of those
#95 - sircool (05/05/2015) [-]
dark arisen is the expansion/upgrade/dlc for it. It's also sold as new game in stores now, as it has updated graphics and everything. What used to look a little washed together (colors is something the game lacks in areas) is a little more detailed in it. and a new area.
I meant in the basic "Mage, rouge, warrior, and party of four" form. and it is between numbers and skill. The weight/inventory system in it is great too. More things one person holds, the more their weight total. More weight total, the slower they move and the more stamina used when holding onto things, but also less likely to be knocked off your feet by an attack.
Angry Joe, though wrong, does a perfect review in my taste for it.
and finally, strider is best class. Movement, attack, arrows, shit it got it all except magic, but get your custom follower to do that and you're set with two bonus pawns.

Does dark arisien come with any versions of the game, or has to be bought on seperate disk / psn /xbox live?
Thats pretty sweet, I don't think encumberance ever had an effect on knockdown in the dark souls series (i see that it may be a different beast altogether, but its what comes to mind)
"though wrong" i've never heard of angry joe, what makes him "wrong"?
And i'll have to take your word for it until I try it. I've eyeballed it a few times, but you and paraigon have sold me I think ^^ thank you! I'll give Strider a go eventually

Has anyone ever given you shit for being too awesome? Because you are right now, so you know. Im favoriting everything to check in the morning. Thanks much! It's been way too long since i've had a game recommendation! I'm trying not to spend all of ym time gaming lately, but the solid recommend is appreciated!

Eh, only games i've ever modded is Fallout 3 and NV, and as fun as those were, they didnt feel "necessary". The onl y game i wish i could have modded was Skyrim, because i never had it for PC and am too lazzy to watch for steam stales ^^
Like i said, you've made a solid sales pitch, i'll give it a go. You and the others here int he comments have replied with such enthusiasm that I can hardly say "nah" at this point ^^ hhuzzah for birthday money!

A'lot of people say that except they say he's known to suck Microsofts dick. He only recently Enjoyed playing on Playstation when the whole DRM scandal with Xbox One started. Angry Joe is a gamer like us sometimes he can be a bit casual, but he knows how to review a game.

So honestly and heartfelt: Thank you! the gist of what you said mixed with blizeh's gif in the replies to this comment kinda seem to be selling me on this

i would paly it for the combat alone
Has the best feel of any combat game i have played.
Each class has moves that just feel GOOD to use like the strider that does a dagger dash through a taget about 7 times for each press of the button if you hit it. Ir a sorcerer that summons a massive tornado or causes meteors to rain onto your enemies
#94 - waffies (05/05/2015) [-]
Sounds cool, i liked the combat through all the Souls series so far, so a game feeling that good is certainly worth a buy from gamestop or such at the very least.
Also, i was looking for a reaction pictuer for this, and then found this and realized I was being so stereotypical that I laughed like an idiot. Thanks for the tips broheim. Have an awesome night

And here I am 8 hours after my seven shots of whiskey and two beers with no hangover. Last night was supposed to be a "testing my limits" night, but the booze refuses to comply and give me negative side effects....

Hahahhaha I remember Dragon's Dogma.
A few of my friends are the type of people who like making characters that look like ourselves. Sometimes my friends ask me to create their characters in their likeness for them (I'm an artist).
I offered to do this for them, just to watch their horrified faces as they watched themselves be eviscerated in the first cutscene on my hugeass TV.
