Use Ninite(dot)com and check each program under "runtimes" that will create a download that if you place on your desktop and run every so often it will automatically update each and every one of those programs.

As for drivers best bet is to go to your computer's manufacturer's website and look up your computer by model number, from there you usually can find a package installer for all of your drivers. If that doesn't work then you'll have to use device manager to identify each piece of unique hardware and then go to the manufacturer's website for each piece of hardware and download the drivers manually. If your computer has a graphics card you definitely want to track down the drivers for that, and then AMD/Intel drivers for your processor and chipset.

Sorry to keep bugging you, man. I think I fucked up my laptop. Pretty sure I got a virus and was constantly getting blue screened like 30 seconds after booting up. I went to safe mode and tried to restore, but it gets stuck on "Please wait while your Windows files and settings are being restored System Restore is initializing..." Left it like that for 12+ hours. Nothing. Any advice?

Did you get the drivers for your Ethernet or Wifi Adapter (whichever you use to connect to the internet).

Got it. I'm on Windows 7 and connected to the internet. Finally! Thanks for all the help, man. Do you suggest a certain website to check if I have all my drivers/software? You know, make sure everything is okay?

download windows and make bootable usb then change your boot order to usb and plug the usb in and follow the prompts. Before that though, you want to track down the drivers for the different components in your computer, especially Ethernet and Wifi Adapter drivers. A fresh install only has basic drivers, and usually plug and play doesn't pick up the wifi or ethernet adapter drivers so if you don't have them on hand on a separate USB you won't be able to go online to download them after the windows install.

You used to be able to get a copy of win7 direct from Microsoft, if you have a product key don't bother trying to torrent a sketchy-ass "cracked" copy, you already own the rights to use win7 as per the product key that should be stuck on the side of your system.

If you have a product key for win7 worst case scenario is you track down a fresh install and you have to go through over the phone verification with Microsoft, but you're also going to want to track down the original drivers for every component in your system. Even if the component is plug and play compatible, the downloaded drivers have more features, and the fresh install is not going to come with Ethernet or wireless adapter drivers so if you upgrade w/o downloading the drivers onto a separate disk or flash driver you won't be able to install them so that you can get your machine online to download the rest.

The reason your touch pad is not working correctly is probably because drivers from win7 transferred over to 10, and there are probably issues with that, but if you use Device Manager to track down the name of your touch pad (usually Synaptics) and download and install the win10 version from the manufacturers website that should fix it

Okay, found my product key, talked to Microsoft again, they gave me a link to a download and told me when it's done to put it on a USB. Not really sure how to actually install it though.

I am a pansy about piracy too. Honestly I would keep at it and maybe send a letter to a PC news site or post an SOS message on serious PC forums.

Good luck reverting back to Windows 7. Did you back up your data? I've heard about bad losses when switching to Windows 10.

There's a sticker on your machine with the numbers you're going to need when you pirate that clean install of 7.
#103 - theXsjados (05/04/2016) [-]
It's no pirating if you own the rights to use it

#148 - nachobeldavid (05/04/2016) [-]
You own the rights to the basic install, with all their shit in it.

Not the 'clean' install. Without all the useless junk.

I've reinstalled windows numerous time on my own machines, my friends machines, and on customers machines. Does not matter where you get the software, be it a fresh install, or the bloat-riddled shit manufacturers give you; as long as you have a product key, regardless if it's manufacturer OEM, you can install a fresh copy of windows. The most trouble I've ever had with an OEM to fresh install is that you usually have to do over the phone activation, which takes literally minutes.
