"so i guess my real question is, what does the average European individual do that the American individual doesn't, that gives them this sense of cultural superiority?"

Well it's a question that isn't all that easy to answer but I'll try and give my own perspective of this. First off let's take a look at the development of culture in the last 200 years:
America (by that I mean the USA) has been creating it's own identity and culture since the the end 18th century. It had a lot of immigrants for a long time, and still has. Thus America became a melting pot of various cultures which seem to have blended into something unique and new I'll cover that a bit later . Speaking from stereotypes the american culture is recognisible everywhere because of: your products/brands/companies, love for weapons, obesity rates, your footbal/baseball and other sports, your high industrial productivity, neoliberal capitalism and so on.
Europe on the other hand had a differend development in that time. It was and still is large number of countries which all have their own language, customs, laws and other things which make them very much unique in comparison to their neighbours.
This is due to a number of reasons, but the most important imho is the long tradition of our languages/customs, many being more than a millenia old, that is probably why we think that europe is superior to a "youngster mishmash culture"
In the last 20ish years this progress is going in a different way with the creation of the EU, we are becoming a bit more like America, but it's a process that will take a very very long time.
Anyway for all it's diversety Europeans have a lot in common with each other due to a history of long interaction between our different cultures and many things that are common today for all of our cultures (sports, use of English language everywhere, same currency, common political goals etc)
I hope I made a somewhat sensible anlysis.

So because the US is such a "stew" of cultures, to the more "original" places that culture stems from, it seems somewhat philistine. I can understand that. So now as Europe comes closer to a more sort of "unified" culture with less deviance and polarity, there will be less of the sort of bridling towards each other today so long as things progress the way they are.
#143 - Could somebody explain to me what culture exactly is to Europe…  [+] (4 new replies) 01/04/2015 on Stereotypes -1
User avatar #146 - ludislavonac (01/04/2015) [-]
Hm I'd probably explain it like this:
Their own culture (German to Germans, Italian to Italians etc) - muh glorious culture
Other European cultures - meh whatever let's say that's a somewhat accepting attitude, although a lot of eurofags hate each other
Everything outside Europe - stinky yokels.
Basically Europe is a lot like FJ, a bunch of faggots who love-hate each other and hate everything else.
User avatar #160 - Offspringofwolves (01/04/2015) [-]
That's understandable, as personal biases are often difficult to look past. Yet, in almost complete unison, the European community finds a common a common focal point in the scapegoating of American culture particularly. Looking at the human race as a whole, culture seems to dwindle as humanity's technological side advances. Since there is little need for tradition and ritual aside from the "preservation of a culture", the practices often die out. so i guess my real question is, what does the average European individual do that the American individual doesn't, that gives them this sense of cultural superiority? As Europe and The US are relatively even on the fields of technology.
plus as a nation of immigrants in past, arguably not so at present however, shouldn't the amalgamation of so many cultures and thoughts produce something of a unique identity of culture?

#110 - were the propellers still moving? if not y no helicopter  [+] (1 new reply) 05/25/2014 on Incredible +1

I'm not sure about the propellers, but I think that it might've blown up or something similar. So flying a helicopter near it was probably a bad idea. I'm not positive though, I just get the feeling I saw something about an explosion the last time I saw this topic on FJ.
