I have watched over 1000 anime series from start-to-finish. If you want any anime recommendations, or source on an anime image, feel free to ask me. I don't know all the anime series out there, but I know more than most.

Eh... More slice-of-life probably means he won't like it... Or at least not as much.
Same here. It's marathon or nothing.

I just finished getting around to finally marathoning "No Game No Life"... a lot better than expected, honestly... Shiro and Sora are like a Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu tag-team, but somehow the story still works without being cringy from the "main characters can do no wrong"-ness.

I haven't seen NGNL yet. Not sure when I'll manage to start it. Not in the mood to do anything at all. Also, I have no idea who are Mary Sue and Gary Stu.

Mary-Sue and Gary-Stu are the female and male counterparts respectively to the same character archetype: A character that can do no wrong, befriends everyone, has everyone fall in love with them, is exceedingly powerful, solves everyone's problems like magic for very little effort, etc.

Simply put, they are characters written by very lazy authors wanting to live out self-fulfillment fantasies; and are usually the sign of a horribly written story.

No Game No Life is a rare one where it's still an entertaining story despite the main characters following that archetype to some extent. I do recommend watching it at some point, I was laughing like a maniac the whole way through.

Ah, I don't mind that kind of characters / series as long as it doesn't become cancerous. You make it sound like there's a decent amount of comedy, so most likely any other character wouldn't fit well. I do plan to watch it, and most of other anime, I just have trouble choosing what to watch and then sitting down for it.

Same, I actually enjoy them if it's played up for enough laughs.
Indeed.
Yeah, I get that... I haven't watched much anime at all in the past few years myself... though, that's more because I discovered the wonders of fanfiction, and got seriously addicted to reading them...

Speaking of Gary-Stus and Fanfiction, there's one harry potter fic that features a Gary-Stu Harry Potter that is absolutely fucking hilarious if you ever want to try reading that sort of thing. Think Magic Saitama on Crack, combined with James Bond, and the having the Devil's Luck. It's one of the funniest damn things I've ever read, and it's called "Make a Wish" by "Rorschach's Blot".

I barely touched anime for the past 2-3 years plus there's like 100 series I want to rewatch. It's hell. I need 100 hours per day to get anywhere.
