Weeeeell, normally, I end up thinking of certain scenes first, and write in the rest around those to connect them. As far as writing characters goes, it really helps to have a lot of information about them all in one place for you to go back and look at, even if it's not all details you'll use in the story. The more you know about your character, the easier it is to write for them. If your character is based on a close friend or someone you know, whether it be almost entirely or just parts, that can make things a little bit easier for you too.

Well, as I'm a voice actress myself, I already have a lot of contacts. A lot of the people acting in the game, I've worked with before. I think the only real exceptions are Lucas Campbell, Jane Redd, Tamara Fritz, and Danielle McRae. But if I hear someone who fits the character, I reach out to them, explain what the game's all about, make sure they're comfortable with it, and then bring them on the team. I'm not against having people audition, though.

I see, that's really cool having talented people like that Another thing im curious about, is how you go about creating the story behind it, as story writing and character writing are my weaker points

Thank you! Was going to with Unity based on recommendations and what I've seen a similar project do, BUT thankfully my two programmers steered me towards GameMaker: Studio since they both had experience in it/were more comfortable and in agreeance with the language.
#38 - Neodude (02/02/2015) [-]
Gamemaker, nice choice. especially with the major updates it been going through lately. It's definitely my favourite to use. Its a really good choice. Another question, because I really enjoy chatting with other designers, but how did you go about locating voice actors? Did you bring in personal friends, is it all you?

Originally, I was going to be doing everything but the art and music--but since the start of the campaign, I've thankfully gotten two programmers to join the team who I've handed coding over to, and will only have to worry about writing, directing, and voice acting.
#36 - Neodude (02/02/2015) [-]
Ah, that will make that atleast slightly easier, and I commend you on your writing, as from what dialogue i heard through the opening trailer, it seems really interesting. What engine are you using for it? or is this your own custom built?

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! I just have a genuine love of both the dating sim genre and horror genre, but I've noticed that a lot of the content in both were rather...lacking. And by lacking, I mean kinda trashy. There's no particular inspiration, it's honestly just been me trying to make something I'll really love, and hoping other people will like it a little too. Thanks again!
#34 - Neodude (02/02/2015) [-]
That's pretty cool, and a pretty damned accurate on dating sims these days. Another question, are you handling most of the game yourself, coding, story writing and the like, or have you got more folks on to help even the load?

Well I'm actually just the creator's boyfriend, financial consultant, and business partner. Buuuut, I'm sure gtastic wouldn't mind talking to you herself. Give her just a sec. I just let her know about your comment but she'll be with you in a moment.

She should be able to answer any question you could possibly have.
