your average industrial windmill spins at 180 mph at the tip. I don't know how large the ones in the above image are, but I image they spin at around the same speed.

I'm not pro-Hilary by any means, but you honestly think Ted Cruz is more qualified to run the country?
For me, the two party system is especially annoying. I consider myself a social liberal and a fiscal moderate, which basically means that if a libertarian-esque candidate won the Republican nomination they might have my vote (Rand Paul no longer qualifies as that). As it is, both parties always produce cookie-cutter candidates. I can't vote for a Republican because of their backward ass beliefs about gay marriage, pot, abortion, etc., and I feel uncomfortable voting Democrat because of heavy-handed fiscal policy that that is anti-market and over emphasizes government spending.

I would agree if all of the republican candidates weren't actually retarded, their policies mirror pre recession bush era and their foreign policy is the same shit that got us in the Iraq war. Hilary while also stupid she is at very least bi partisan and not a full red like Bernie

The economy's in the shitter because the Glass-Steagall act, a piece of Depression-era legislation, got repealed in 2000 with the help of Republican Congressmen and good ol' Clinton. Frank-Dodd is the pathetic, feeble replacement they tried to put in after 2008 showed what happens when Wall Street is "too big to fail" and has no accountability for its actions.
Obama and his cabinet are all cronyists who are just as bad as any of the worst Republicans. Remember that stimulus bill? Remember all the pork it had? That's on Obama's resume.
The only difference with Republicans is that they wouldn't have forced through a healthcare tax while claiming it wasn't a tax.

Here's the thing most people disregard: Clinton was president during the dotcom boom. That's when google and yahoo and other sites hit it big, and apple and windows broke into full stride. Of COURSE the national GDP was going to go up a fuckton during that era, regardless of how they budgeted. Multimillion dollar corporations were popping up out of nowhere.. Look at the end of his term, though. See the decline? That's when that boom came to a close, and the economy started to slump again. I'd say the first level of Bush's term is likely more reflective of how we were doing at the high point of Clinton's, if we didn't include GDP from internet start-ups.

you do know Bush had nothing to do with the economy that was the banks and giving out loans to people that could not pay them back.

President gives a recommended budget, and the Senate and House make their own separate revisions, which then get compiled and the President signs. Obama essentially had a temper tantrum twice and shut down the government until Congress passed exactly what he wanted.

Economics aren't as straight forward as you think. The financial crisis was started during the Bush era, and its not like the momentum can be instantly changed when you change government. Think of economy as a massive ship, like the Titanic. Like the titanic it can't be turned around very quickly when headed towards the iceberg. And you can basically say that when the captain of the titanic ordered the ship to set full speed in reverse to soften the blow, that was when Obama took over, but the ship was still moving forward - and it was still on collision course for a while.
Bush did a few things right, but the war in Iraq was a disaster although the hunt for Bin-Laden and Al-Qaida was a correct in my opinion and he destroyed the economy. Obama on the other hand has used his time to stop the ship from hitting the iceberg, and has dealt with Iraq and to some extent Afghanistan. And now he's so far handling the situation with Russia and ISIS good if you ask me.

Someone got shot at my campus earlier this semester, was that Obama's fault, too?
Obama didn't jump into office and say "I have complete control here, so I'm going to raise the debt ceiling and throw the country into recession just to piss people off."
If you want to get pissed at someone over the debt ceiling, get pissed at Congress. If you want to get pissed about the recession, then realize that recessions always are going to happen and that our government learned from a lot of mistakes from the past and prevented it from being as bad as it could have been. If you want to get pissed about the war, then blame the people who allowed us to go into it in the first place because if you look at the past, you'll see that cutting all our troops out at once when the job isn't even done yet only sets up the next corrupt regime to come out.

You have to spend money to get out of recessions and get through wars. When you're going into office and have to deal with those, no shit we're going to go into more debt. It's like shooting a bullet at the president, stopping the bullet in the middle of the air long enough for a new president to take his place, then letting the bullet go back to speed and acting surprised when the new president gets shot.

Interest would not double the debt in only 8 years. As ilovemyguns said, it'd've been around 13.7 trillion by now, if left alone. As much as I'm not a fan of Dubya, I'm not much of a fan of Obama, either. And I'm certainly not for Hilary. Ugh.

There's nothing to address. It's increased spending with lower taxes, plain and simple. When you're putting out more than you're taking in, you're going to run a deficit.
If any of these politicians actually wanted to get us closer to debt free, the easiest way (albeit, not the fastest) is to increase spending on federal projects (hire unemployed people to work on roadways, bridges, parks, etc.) and increase taxes by the same amount. The impact to GDP, theoretically, would be roughly 4 times the amount spent, while the government would be running on an equilibrium and the country would be in a better shape too. Win/win, except that whichever party instigates it looks like the hero, so of course it'll receive opposition from the other.
