Agreed. ASCII is only numbers, from 0 to 127. Hex uses numbers and letters, depending on what group or column it falls under.

I don't mean to butt in, but it is ASCII. Saying it is in hex is vague at best, because it is ASCII values represented in hexadecimal format.
By ASCII I mean just a list of characters that are being used to the ASCII standard.
While hex just mean it is a number represented in hexadecimal format, meaning it's 16 base. We use numbers to represent values, but regardless of the base, the value won't change, only the numbers. So I can write 35 in 10 base(decimal), 100011 in 2 base(binary), 23 in 16 base(hex) or 10 in 35 base(why not), the value stays the same.
