I would disagree with that. Why? There are not that much gay people. They are loud and are always talked about, but their numbers are small. I am afraid that this could change not because more people will be born gay (because that is something we cannot control) but because people will follow the "popular thing". I mean we live in a world where smoking/drinking/drugs are known to cause health problems and even death, but they can still be cool and people still use them. That is what I'm trying to argue here.

everyone's already pointed it out, but Marriage and Holy Matrimony are two separate things. Marriage=legal contract whereas Holy Matrimony=covenant between a married couple and God.
User avatar #165 - myrtille (03/19/2013) [-]
Marriage existed before Christianity.
#128 - tomthehippie (03/19/2013) [-]
Actually, I have to attack one part of your statement. Marriage is NOT a religious ceremony, or are atheists not allowed to get married? Or do only Christians get married? I guess my parents aren't really married then, sense they weren't married in a religious ceremony, but by a judge.

Marriage is a social contract, one that CAN, IF THE INVOLVED PARTIES CHOSE, have a religious connotation, but it is still a social contract that allows two parties to move into a home, share ownership of said home, car, declare one or the other dependent on the other one on tax forms, or share insurance for cars, health, dental, ect, or share bank accounts. There are also tax write offs (even if you're significant other is working and/or neither of you can claim the other as a dependent) for being married.
User avatar #204 - Ludo (03/19/2013) [-]
"As I believe". my PERSONAL belief. I understand some people see it that way and that doesn't kill me, but I was speaking from my personal standpoint. Not a factual one.
#211 - tomthehippie (03/19/2013) [-]
So your beliefs get to dictate to the rest of us how we should live? Are you really that arrogant?
User avatar #121 - heiderr (03/19/2013) [-]
I like your statement, except the part when you say "I believe marriage is a religious ceremony between a man and a woman." I get that that is pertaining to strictly your views but I wish you would consider that various cultures have had their own theories on the origin of marriage, who is involved, whether it be religious, economical, etc...
User avatar #206 - Ludo (03/19/2013) [-]
and by "i do" I mean that I have heard lots of culture's different ideas of marriage and such, and It doesn't bother me, I understand everyone has their own cultures and beliefs. Like you said, I was stating from a personal view because to get into all the different theories would be slightly moot. Yes I've considered them, and I'm not against them, but I also still believe what I believe, ya know?
User avatar #207 - Ludo (03/19/2013) [-]
theories wasn't really the word I wanted to use in that last sentence, but you know what I mean I hope.
User avatar #205 - Ludo (03/19/2013) [-]
I do. as I stated above in a different comment. It is a personal statement. It isn't factual and I don't claim everyone to believe or should believe as I do. I simply stated my own personal beliefs.
User avatar #52 - croski (03/18/2013) [-]
There is a problem, if gay marriage becomes normal, we will have a drastic drop in childbirths.
And don't instantly treat me as a hater, I am not, but this is a fact.
User avatar #162 - myrtille (03/19/2013) [-]
No we won't., those people are already gay. Legalizing gay marriage won't create new gays. Dumb ass.
User avatar #113 - Blargosnarf (03/19/2013) [-]
That's a... bad thing??? I think we have enough fucking people in the world, seven billion is enough for me...
User avatar #202 - croski (03/19/2013) [-]
I don't see your point here. Out of that 7 billion, 2 billions come from China and India. Try to sell them the homosexual thing, maybe we can profit from it then.
User avatar #89 - nucularwar (03/19/2013) [-]
please elaborate
User avatar #98 - croski (03/19/2013) [-]
I did, I replied to Ludo but comment is down bellow for some reason.

What I meant was if gay marriages become as popular or even replace heterosexual ones. There is a sentence that I interpreted in a wrong way and now my comment looks like the worst logic I have ever seen in my own life...

And people are thumbing it down for a reason, but my intentions were good.
User avatar #107 - nucularwar (03/19/2013) [-]
it's still pretty bad logic, if gay marriages get "more popular" it's not going to mean more gay people, just more gay marriages.
more gay marriages won't subtract from straight marriages, they'll subtract from unmarried gay people.
User avatar #62 - Ludo (03/18/2013) [-]
The difference between being gay and not being gay doesn't change just because marriage is legal, they will still be gay and not procreate whether they get married or not. and heterosexuals dominant the population and I believe will continue to do so, so there will hopefully always be people making more children. gay marriage however wont change that issue, the amount of people who are gay will.
User avatar #201 - croski (03/19/2013) [-]

Good...if we have a drastic drop...then more jobs...less likely 20 years from now a younger kid will take your job.
User avatar #60 - croski (03/18/2013) [-]
Oh good sir, but who will support you when you get old, who will provide you with your pension?
#69 - slaggadagga (03/18/2013) [-]
I have kids...also...life expectancy of humans continue to increase. I would rather people stop having kids for a while as opposed to the government releasing a new strand of virus...masturbation is the only thing keeping it under control...for now.
User avatar #74 - croski (03/19/2013) [-]
I don't think you understand things in whole.

You probably worked for a while now if you have kids and you gave a certain amount of money to a pension fund. Now, as you grow older and your kids start working, they are going to give money to pension funds which will then give you pensions. And if you have too many old people and not enough kids, you have a big problem. I think it is ideal to have 5 workers on one pensioner (unlike in my country where we have less than 3 workers on one pensioner).
User avatar #82 - slaggadagga (03/19/2013) [-]
I understand what you're saying and slightly agree.
User avatar #86 - croski (03/19/2013) [-]
The only way to reset now is to kill both older and younger generations (more of the older). It is drastic, but if you look at it from a historical point, what did the wars do? Also for instance, what happened after the plague killed lots of people in Great Britain (I think in 14th century).
User avatar #88 - slaggadagga (03/19/2013) [-]
So...we need a Franken-Hitler?
User avatar #94 - croski (03/19/2013) [-]
Maybe I was to harsh when I said it is the only way, there are other ways, I'm sure of that. War is one of them, and was one of them for a long long time now...
User avatar #96 - slaggadagga (03/19/2013) [-]
Yea...I don't think we will have a generation anytime soon that won't have to live in an era of war...
User avatar #100 - croski (03/19/2013) [-]
I don't want to say it but i fear that you are right. Even though Europe itself hasn't had a war from 1945 it's soldiers are fighting throughout the world with NATO or other organisations.
User avatar #101 - slaggadagga (03/19/2013) [-]
Controls population AND brings money in. The People in power know exactly what they're doing...I take it you're in Europe?

No..Geology was my worst subject...Even playing the game "Assassins Creed" where it has all to do with different countries I zone out...just like the good old days...
User avatar #200 - croski (03/19/2013) [-]
I guess you mean geography, for geology is a science about rocks and ores and stuff.

Croatia is a small but beautiful country in central Europe and is famous for its coast (the Adriatic coast), soccer and pretty hard history.

Look it up, maybe you'll visit it some day.

I am sorry, I see the error of my statement. What I meant was if gay marriages replace todays heterosexual marriages (that is how I interpreted "eventually became a thing").
