I'm tired of this myth
Taurine, the supposedly dangerous substance for dogs in chocolate, is only dangerous to them in ridiculous amounts that wouldn't happen even if they ate an entire bar of chocolate

Please, NEVER get a pet. I don't want a dog to die because you're retarded.

The second you walk into a store to get dogs they will instantly deny you because they have policys against giving pets to inbred's.

Then I go to a shelter
Or heck, get them from some random litter from a random person whose dog just had a litter

Fucking nope! Chocolate actually is really dangerous for dogs, the type and density matters, but don't feed any dog chocolate, ever, for any reason. A bite off a brownie won't kill it, but a dog that small will likely have a stomach ache and diarrhea, but a bite of bakers chocolate and that dog would have been dead.

Please don't spread misinformation about dog safety, it's a complicated issue and people tend not to fully appreciate how different a dog's health needs are from a humans.

The ASPCA has chocolate listed in their official list of toxins to dogs, and there are cases every year of dogs who die or get very sick because of chocolate.

Chocolate sin't really a big deal, it's bad but a little won't do any real damage.
What you really have to watch for is grapes. Just like 2-3 grapes could kill a dog that size.

My dachshund RIP you little neurotic doggo once ate 3/4 of a dark chocolate bar, I thought that she was going to die but she just puked all the time, she puked so much that after about 20 minutes she didn't even bother to open her mouth so it kinda just seeped out of her. After about an hour of almost constant puking she was alright

IIRC, dogs are highest risk when eating DARK chocolate. All chocolate is bad for them, but I think they likelihood of them dying/having severe reactions is only if they get into dark chocolate.

I'm no expert through.

yeah its based on how much theobromine is in the chocolate. mostly its in dark chocolate or unsweetened bakers chocolate.

thankfully most dogs tend to actually lean towards eating milk chocolate because it smells nicer and tastes sweeter then dark. although it wont be lethal it can make them very sick by building up gas. since dogs cant burp or expel gas as easily as us it can expand the stomach till its very painful for them.

that's why dogs tend to get there stomach pumped after eating a large amount of chocolate. to keep things from rupturing from gas build up.
