The biggest pains in the ass were A.) trying to have the level off the new pump fit inside the original housing AND be underneath the push rod and B.) trying to undo the two mounting bolts that hold the pump into the block. Had to use a 18" extension bar to reach through the plastic wheel well and seat on the head of the bolt. From there everything was relatively easy. I even took some preventive steps and replaced the rubber fuel lines that connected the bottom of the fuel pump to the metal lines along the chassis, as well as replaced the fuel filter. All told it took about 3 hours (and that was with partial cleanup and re-tearing down stuff). Thankfully it started right up after a little bit of fuel down the carb, and we let it idle for about 15-20 minutes. No sputtering, surging, coughing, nothing. First time the car's run in over 2 years, even though it's been sitting for practically 8.
But in terms of difficult, I much preferred this compared to what I will have to deal with when my Z28's fuel pump kicks the bucket. Already the sending unit's fluid level sensor has gone bad, so I'm both waiting for and dreading the day the pump goes. But I'd rather replace all that junk at once versus having to drop the tank numerous times.
4th gen Z28? Have a 98 camaro and yeah its going to suck but i have seen people just cut a whole in the back seat and pop it out.
3 hours doesnt sound too bad but man that figures GM small block 350s they may not be the most prestigious V8 but they always want to start even after 2 years of sitting
Yep, mine's a 2000. I've heard of people cutting those access panels as well, but I'm apprehensive about actually cutting into the floor panel. Although I think I may be doing that because dropping out the fuel tank's going to be a pain in the ass, both in terms of labor and in terms of having to completely drain the tank.
I'd estimate it was a bit over two hours really, because there was a bit of sitting around wondering how to mount stuff. I love the SB 350's, they can sit for decades and with a bit of gas they'll fire right back up. I'm just happy that the Vette kicked over. It's been my Dad's muscle car since 1992, so to see him get really excited about it finally running again, made me feel good.
Nice, mines below and yeah thats what i am figuring on doing, because if not going to be fun dropping the exhaust and drive shaft.
Its just sad how choked they were. I think it was 170hp in 1975... and thats always cool to see it when some one gets excited about a car

Yeah, they were choked pretty awful. I've been slowly trying to piece together ideas for a mild 383 build to drop in there. Thinking about ported heads, holley high rise with edelbrock carbs, comp cams, and side exit exhaust. But knowing him he'd probably just want to tune up the 350 it's already got.
Very nice looks clean, like the deep blue. Would love to do some upgrades to mine but winter is coming...
And i would just stroke what you got or have it bored and with a bit more cam should help unchoke it

That's what I'm beginning to lean to. While I'd love to drop a higher power block into it, I do feel like tinkering with the 350 and trying to overcome the weak hp rating it's got.
Well an LS swap to start. Bought it as my first car 7 years ago and wasnt allowed to get a V8. Its not as difficult as people make it out to be but have to find a k member. After that drop it 1" and CTS-V brembo brake swap. (love it when GM makes parts interchangeable)
Probably would be cheaper in the long run but GM crate motors are very tempting.
No way, no LS? Damn shame. I'm totally spoiled with my 5 second 0-60, and being able to hit 80 before being halfway up the highway on ramp. Although it's incredibly easy to do 100+ in that if you aren't careful. K member's are definitely going to be a bit tricky, only because they're pricey. Maybe you'd have some luck seeing if you can pull one from a V8 bodied car laying in a junk yard?
LS1 is pretty cheap in the long run. But in terms of buildable power the crate motors have more potential. LS1's can handled about 600 streetable, but past that they're gonna be miserably bitchy.

So, is every car already unlocked or do you have to do events to unlock them?
They are unlocked from the beginning but you have to buy them to use in career mode. In free play or testing or multiplayer the cars are available to drive them but you dont "own" them.
