You probably think I am some bitter asshole who hates people. But that couldn't be further from the truth. I am almost always happy, rarely get mad. My avatar is hedonism bot for a reason.

I just can't feel bad for people who ruined their life because of drugs when their are so many around the world, and even some in the US that had it so much harder than they did. They wasted their chance. I would rather help someone who didn't have a chance in the first place. I knew a kid who grew up in an upper middle class house and went to my school. I even went skiing with him. He started smoking weed, and after high school he went onto cocaine and heroine and dropped out of college. He is a drug dealer on the street now. I wouldn't give him a dime. Can you seriously say there isn't someone more deserving of that money? Like a starving child in Africa, or a poor kid who studied hard and needs a scholarship, or even cancer research to save young kids with Leukemia.

Well in your system, you don't get to decide. Some bureaucrat does.
User avatar #47 to #46 - KayThanxBye (02/17/2015) [-]
if the international governments really wanted to stop straving kids in africa and i mean really want it, then it would have happened by now. all my life i grew up watching ads on tv about starving kids and being made to do fundraisers for them and still nothings being done about it, it doesnt give me much hope. if your friends selling drugs hes probably not going to need help, but if he ***** up and loses everything then decides he wants to make it right but cant then what? its all about giving opportunities to people who are looking for them. we dont have to forget a persons past but we can all learn to forgive them for making bad decisions.

also not all pot smokers move onto harder durgs, just sayin
User avatar #48 to #47 - damping (02/17/2015) [-]
I'm well aware not all pot smoker move onto hard drugs.

Now that is a complex issue. We send food over, they don't starve, they have 4 babies each, the medical supplies we sent keeps them alive, they over populate and need more food, we send them more food. Their populations have reached past the point where even in every acre of farmland was utilized they would still not be able to feed their population. So now what?

Hands outs don't work. Gotta solve the underlying problems. But their governments are corrupt and don't want that. Believe it or not, Africa was better off when they were always at war.
User avatar #49 to #48 - KayThanxBye (02/17/2015) [-]
id say teach them about condoms but that doesnt always work. my old p.e teacher was saying when he was teaching basic sexual health to adults back in africa hes south african they demonstrated how to use condoms by using a broom but saying it was a penis, when the birth rate wasnt going down he helped out with home inspections to see what was going on. hed ask them how they were using condoms and theyd take him into the bedroom and in the corner of the room was a broomstick with a condom on it... true ******* story (not just one either, this was multiple people)
they have a high rate of rape in africa aswell. if any country needs forceful help its africa
User avatar #50 to #49 - damping (02/17/2015) [-]
Africa isn't a country. I don't really care, and I know what you meant but I mean to point out the fact that if I made such a mistake America haters would be on me claiming I am a "typical American."

What about India? The condoms were too big and slipped off.

Another case of why bother for me. Europe already stole all of Africa's wealth. Make France and the UK answer for what they did. Our military embarrassments are faults of theirs. France-responsible for Vietnam, UK-responsible for Iraq. Who would have guessed arbitrarily drawing the borders and having a Sunni minority rule over a Shia majority would cause such problems? Anyone with a brain. Of course, it is our responsibility to clean up their **** .

You know what made Europe work? The black death. That is what Africa needs. Ever read the Dan Brown book Inferno? Kind of related.
User avatar #51 to #50 - KayThanxBye (02/17/2015) [-]
sorry if i was being a douche about this, our countries are just so different but very much the same. and yeah i know africas not country, but i really couldnt care less.
no i did not hear about that, haha no wonder theyve got such a population problem, maybe they should forget condoms all together and start putting women onto depo. ive been with an indian man before and i can confirm that this does actually happen, he nearly got me pregnant like that.

see i didnt know that france and the uk had anything to do with it at all, we only get a fairly small amount of media coverage compared to the rest of the world, they just tell us when a city's been bombed or someones been beheaded or an australian cafes been held up by an isis man (thats what he told everyone and he demanded an islamic state flag to be given to him, but the aussies are still kind denying it was isis, even though they were warned.)

i suppose ebola is like black death, is cusing alot of black deaths thats for sure and no i havent read inferno but i do appreciate the works of dan brown. ill check it out once i finish the GoT series

If I had to use one word to describe both America as a country and the American state of mind it would be this: competition

It is the basis of capitalism. Competition brings out the best in people. But it is harsh to the losers. Those who lose often become depressed. It is evolution, social Darwinism. We want to beat everyone. Everyone wants to earn more money than their friends from birth. We are trained to be ruthless capitalists.

The results have been glorious in terms of human progress, but it of course leads to inequality. Hence the two very different sides of American life.
User avatar #31 to #30 - damping (02/17/2015) [-]
Interestingly as you pointed out, that is why we won the space race. Competition. That is why we have the most Olympic medals and the most Nobel prizes. That is why professor from all over the world come to the US. To test themselves against the best.

It is also the reason the US seems to be declining. When the USSR fell, we had no one to compete against. We were far and away the best. We grew docile and lazy. Terrorists are not our equals. We need an enemy to unite us again. Maybe China will become that for us.
User avatar #32 to #31 - KayThanxBye (02/17/2015) [-]
can you see how flawed capitalism is? in my country they give tax breaks to the business owners in exchange for them paying their employees more, what happened was the rich kept their tax money and got even richer. it happens every where. human greed gives no room for any kind of -ism, capitalism, socialism, communism, none of the -isms. i uderstand ive probably been very harsh on america, but being form a small country where our prime minister is too dumb to answer a call for your president, and we've got a higher equality than you doesnt look very promising. and america will fall one day, and it could probably be mexicans who take you down which is another thing i dont understand, they live on the same land mass as you, your part of the dame continent, why not just get along, help the mexicans up to your level and maybe you wont dislike them as much
china has enough resources to make it on their own, all they have to do is wait for you to crumble then start filling in the spaces. eventually they'll just phase into power. i dont think chinas the kind of country to blindly go into war for power, theyd go to war if they were threatened by it but not simply to take over, thats russias job.
User avatar #34 to #32 - damping (02/17/2015) [-]
Also, we love Mexicans in Mexico. Important distinction.
User avatar #35 to #34 - KayThanxBye (02/17/2015) [-]
mexico is part of america though... if you look on a mp youll see that theyre connected by land, maybe if you made them part of the us theyd stay in mexico, yoour police force would have some jurisdiction there and you could keep an eye on cartels
User avatar #36 to #35 - damping (02/17/2015) [-]
So you are advocating for us to annex Mexico?
User avatar #37 to #36 - KayThanxBye (02/17/2015) [-]
yes, and the rest of the americas. although i have the same things to say abot europe, asia and africa. theyre all part of the same land mass too but it hold 3 ifferent continents and thats just silly
User avatar #38 to #37 - damping (02/17/2015) [-]
So you would be OK with Australia annexing you?

I'm as down as anyone as creating Oceania 1984 as the next guy, but most people wouldn't be very happy with the US doing that.
User avatar #40 to #38 - KayThanxBye (02/17/2015) [-]
have you looked at a map? new zealand isnt even close to australia, it takes 5 hours to fly there, if oceania was more connected then yes id be all good with annexing australia and all the pacific island but simply there is not land connection so we can govern ourselves. in the americas however youve taken north america as your own and blocked out the rest of the continent, save for canada. i also think european countries should be annexed aswell. it makes sense. simply if youre country is on the same land mass as another country you should atleast try to get some kind of mutual benefit going for the greater good

i replied to myself in a lapse of concentration
User avatar #41 to #40 - damping (02/17/2015) [-]
Like you could get Europeans to work together and put aside their cultural "differences" they are all the same . Each culture thinks they are special snowflakes. America accepts everyone, Europe is going to keep fracturing until we are back to thousands of feudal states.
User avatar #42 to #41 - KayThanxBye (02/17/2015) [-]
america doesnt accept everyone, you turn away refugee, you stop mexicans coming into the country because theyre going to work and contribute like a good citizen. i good lump of american people dont even like obama because hes black. come down here to new zealand and see what real acceptance is like weve got asians, americans, africans, all manner of islander, all manner of european a whole bunch of middle easterns and indians and kurds.. the list goes on mate. what was it the white man did when they first found america again? oh yeah thats right, slaughter an entire nation of american indians.

dont preach acceptance when you frown upon practicing muslims.
User avatar #43 to #42 - damping (02/17/2015) [-]
We are still the most immigrated to country on Earth. We accept thousands of legal immigrants every year. We accept tons of legal Mexican immigrants no problem. It is the illegal ones we have issue with.

Not many in the US look down on practicing Muslims. Look up the most diverse cities in the world. They are nearly all American.

Most Natives died of diseases. Only 80,000 were killed by the US army.

The US does accept everyone. It is a country of immigrants.
User avatar #44 to #43 - KayThanxBye (02/17/2015) [-]
3 out of the top 10. you say that its accepting and it probably is, but the face the rest of the world sees is not a pretty one. you got some nice scenery but we always hear about people killing people over cultural or religious reasons. didnt new york just break its record by going 10 conscutive days without a murder. that doesnt sound very accepting to me

User avatar #45 to #44 - damping (02/17/2015) [-]
Nah, they are killing people over gangs and drugs. Plus, New York City is huge. It is a numbers game.
User avatar #33 to #32 - damping (02/17/2015) [-]
But there will always be an -ism. And socialism will slowly create a complacent society who will not work as hard as they could. People respond the incentives rule number 1 of economics . If you receive those incentives without doing anything, then why bother?

Because the Cartels.

You would be very surprised.

China just doesn't have the power yet. Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Philippines and India are all quite worried.

Or, I could catch enough to rip off the roof of a car, then I can sell that car off, then raise enough money doing this to be able to get more shiny cars, therefore more birds, then more cars to sell, genius!

Type 0: This is where we're at. A type 0 civilization uses things like fossil fuels (Oil, Coal) and may use limited renewable resources as energy.

Type 1: A planetary civilization, we're 100 years away from being a planetary civilization. They're eco-friendly using renewable energy resources (geothermal, wind, solar, etc..)

Type 2: A stellar civilization, we're about 1,000-5,000 years away from being a type 2 civilization. They are mainly reliant on their mother star and create Dyson Shells, or Dyson Spheres (Basically solar panels that collect 70-99% of energy) and are essentially immortal. A type 2 civilization can only die from the death of the universe itself.

Type 3: A Galactic Civilization. They have not really an infinite amount of power but a damn lot of it. They have the power from billions of suns, and billions of planets. They are immortal, and even the death of the UNIVERSE wouldn't be a problem to them. They have perpetual motion machines, Advanced AI, the ability to manipulate black holes. We're about 100,000-1,000,000 years away from being a Type 3 civilization.

Type 0.1: Fluid groups of hominids living in Africa. Technology consists of primitive stone tools. Intra-group conflicts are resolved through dominance hierarchy, and between-group violence is common.

Type 0.2: Bands of roaming hunter-gatherers that form kinship groups, with a mostly horizontal political system and egalitarian economy.

Type 0.3: Tribes of individuals linked through kinship but with a more settled and agrarian lifestyle. The beginnings of a political hierarchy and a primitive economic division of labor.

Type 0.4: Chiefdoms consisting of a coalition of tribes into a single hierarchical political unit with a dominant leader at the top, and with the beginnings of significant economic inequalities and a division of labor in which lower-class members produce food and other products consumed by non-producing upper-class members.

Type 0.5: The state as a political coalition with jurisdiction over a well-defined geographical territory and its corresponding inhabitants, with a mercantile economy that seeks a favorable balance of trade in a win-lose game against other states.

Type 0.6: Empires extend their control over peoples who are not culturally, ethnically or geographically within their normal jurisdiction, with a goal of economic dominance over rival empires.

Type 0.7: Democracies that divide power over several institutions, which are run by elected officials voted for by some citizens. The beginnings of a market economy.

Type 0.8: Liberal democracies that give the vote to all citizens. Markets that begin to embrace a nonzero, win-win economic game through free trade with other states.

Type 0.9: Democratic capitalism, the blending of liberal democracy and free markets, now spreading across the globe through democratic movements in developing nations and broad trading blocs such as the European Union.
