Not much of an innovation though, is it? Loads of companies have done that, including Armalite themselves. But when H&K does it suddenly it's the hottest thing on the block?

Yea, HK really popularized it with good marketing and HK fanboys praising everything they do as the next coming of Jesus. Is it really a huge improvement on the design? Meh, its kind of a wash, there is nothing really wrong with the DI system originally used. The heat has to go somewhere though, on DI thats right back into the bolt, gas tube, and chamber and on piston everything stays up in the gas and the piston

Like I said though, I personally prefer the piston system. The image I posted is actually my rifle with the Adam's Arms piston system, its an old pic, it looks a lot better now.
