Archeage. There are houses, towns, even castles and ships that are destructible and player built.
I found a town there a month or so that wasn't on the map. Had EVERYTHING a town normally does, so I asked around. Everything was player made/run.

I would disagree on this. Anything else from Key. Compared to Air, Kanon and Clannad, angel beats was pretty flippin bad.

I think it got rushed though. It definitely felt like it was rushed which is odd for Key.

It's interesting enough and short enough to watch I'd say.

"For a time Ancalagon and his legion of winged Fire-Drakes looked as if they would overcome the Valar"

What? How on middle earth are you going to over come this vast fucking dragon and his legions of fire drakes? and by that I mean where can I read the story?
User avatar
#38 - krobeles (02/01/2015) [-]
Honestly, there comes a point where if you keep pileing effort into making something seem absurdly epic and grand, it just becomes absurdly silly instead.
I feel like this Ancalagon business has reached that point, and then just kept going untill it became so silly as to be not even funny anymore.
It seems like the kind of thing that an 8 year old kid doped on sugar and caffein would come up with, when asked to come up with the most 'badass' thing the kid could imagine. "And it was a D-Dragon, and i-it w-w-was so big that that the s-sun was not t-t-t-there!". Fucking pathetic, in my opinion.
Tolkien is a fine writer. Dont get me wrong. But the fucking diety of narratives that people seem to have venerated him as, he is certainly not and this "Dragon the size of a small moon"-business is a perfect example of a literary brain-fart of his.

#61 - krobeles (02/01/2015) [-]
"Didn't think of it first"? What does that even mean in this context? "A large dragon" is hardly a very complex idea. I am pretty sure every kid who were into fantasy had that exact idea, long before they even knew who Tolkien was or what any of his work was about.
The significant difference between Tolkien and most other people in this particular case, is that most of the people who had this idea realized that it was a shitty idea, and scrapped it in favor of more complex and interesting concepts.

Jesus christ, is there any problem in Tolkien's universe that cannot be solved with giant eagles?
User avatar

Except it was Earendil who killed ancalagon, not the eagles (the passage posted is a bit ambiguous)
User avatar
#34 - mcassio (02/01/2015) [-]
Yes. Everything. Actually read the damn books. They give an explanation for it. Hell, it's as simple as this; Sauron is a giant fucking eye. He sees the big ass eagles coming, and gets 10k orcs on his walls and on the volcano, and they shoot the eagles down. Or the Nazgul swarm and rip them to shreds. Or the bird things do the same thing. And dont give me shit about altitude. The ring has to be dropped into the volcano just right, or it falls onto the mountain and Sauron gets it, thus ending the world. You have to be close enough to accurately drop it, and if you are close enough for a hobbit to drop a ring into a volcano, you are damn well close enough to be shot by the thousands of orcs waiting for your ass. And that's ignoring the nazguls.
User avatar
#93 - Gandalfthewhite (02/01/2015) [-]
I get that and all, but it takes time to mobilize an army especially when you need them to converge on an erupting volcano and wouldn't the Eagles be able to fly above the archers range? they do have shitty made bows in the end and normal eagles are high flyers anyway let alone giant ones. So and if they used the Eagles from the get go at rivendell the Nazgul wouldn't still be making their way home from that mess at the river without their horses. And with the accuracy of dropping the ring in they'd have plenty of time to land on the mountain, send frodo in to drop it then fly out way before any orcs would get tot the summit
User avatar
#105 - mcassio (02/01/2015) [-]
Also, I find it ironic I am having this conversation with Gandalf.
User avatar
#104 - mcassio (02/01/2015) [-]
I believe I covered the range issue. Remember, its not about how high the eagles can possibly fly, its about how close they have to be for the ring to be dropped with absolute accuracy. And I mean absolute. No chances can be taken. Also, I had the wrong terminology. When I said Nazgul, I meant the giant bat things they rode. Those would have still been there. As for landing on the mountain, that REALLY doesnt work if there are already a couple thousand orcs swarming the mountainside, waiting to pick them off. Remember, you have to assume that Sauron would see them coming. The ring is part of him, and the only reason it has been kept secret for so long is because it was so far away. Remember the scene at the end of Return of the King, where they took a tiny ass army to fight the entire orc army? That was just to distract Sauron. No joke. If they hadn't done that, Sam and Frodo wouldn't have made it two feet into Mordor, even if the orcs hadnt been in the way. So the idea that Sauron wouldn't see a giant host of massive eagles flying his way, with his ring, is pretty much impossible.

Actually, Sauron isn't an eye. He has a physical humanoid form, but just stays inside his tower the entire time because he doesn't have the power to maintain it outside of the tower. The eye is just the movies' way of skipping the explanation about the palantir.
User avatar
#106 - mcassio (02/01/2015) [-]
I never knew that. I think they kinda did something with that in the Hobbit movies, though. Sauron kinda sorta appears there.
User avatar
#108 - emiyashirou (02/02/2015) [-]
Sauron was there, but not in the way Peter Jackson made up for the movies. He was there in a physical body, not some sort of portal-ghost bullshit. Sauron doesn't ever show up directly in the 'The Hobbit' book, as that book doesn't detail what Gandalf does in the times he fucked off, this piece of information is from Unfinished Tales.

honestly angel beats squandered it's potential. The music was great, artwork was good, animation was great, and the idea for the plot was pretty cool. However it was too short. they tried to stuff so much into 12 episodes it was all just too rushed and because of that, character development took a hit because it doesn't give the audience much time to connect with the characters. Just my two cents. also, Theres a Psycho Pass 2. just lettin ya know. I haven't seen it yet but I plan on starting it either today or sometime soon.

You can buy a handgun when you are 18 provided your state laws do not say otherwise.

Under federal law, you can own a handgun at the age of 18 but you can not purchase one from a licensed FFL. You can however, from my understanding and experience, still purchase one through a private sale based on federal law.

So no, if your state law says nothing of it, he does not have to wait till he is 21. For his permit though to carry concealed, (assuming his state does not allow OC,) he will have to wait for.
