You're from Britain then? I got no problems with the Brits at all, good guys. The system did not fail me completely, it was just a big ballache for a long time. Moving to Canada was one of the best decisions I make. I make lots of cash, I get taxed a fair amount, and the gun laws are still lenient hahah.

One of the problems with serving is keeping allegiance to a president you don't particularly like, but that's part of the job I guess. Republican or Democrat, two different sides to the same coin, rock and a hard place.

My opinions on the left in the US is that they do in general do not support anything, and are for the most part hypocrites. Of course YMMV, and I'm not the one who started with insults. I just find issue that a lot of leftists believe in things such as work place equality, social justice, equal opportunity, but are willing to look the other way when it suits them.

I use leftist and left wing as synonyms as modern US liberalism, this is not a one off, and the terms are interchangeable to a point in the US. A lot of right wingers do not trust military, as we are part of the system that they believe will impeach on their rights, (they are correct to a point).

Don't use Fox news regurgitation as an argument point, I don't think I've watched TV news for a solid two years unless you count snippets at public places.

My issue is with hypocrisy mainly. To be fair, I doubt everyone that rejected me is left wing, it is a personal grudge and assumption I made based on my experience in the states, and with left wing activists. FOR THE MOST PART, right wing activists are more likely to support troops, and individual troop care in the US. Of course, both left wing and right wing supporters can be good people and polite, I am merely exaggerating on my experiences for simplicity. Pacifism is in and itself not nationalism, and even a pacifist can be cordial and support their military.

Have a good one anyways

That was actually interesting to read.
I'm not sure what line of work you're in, but I see Britain as a true land of opportunity and here both sides of the political allegiances are pro ex-servicemen.
I think the problem with America is that you have two parties both of whom are funded by billionaires to their own end. You have no other way of voicing opionions so you get stuck with the label of either Republican or Democrat. Crazy Liberal or Gun-nut Conservative.
These allegiances go back generations in families and ideologies are passed on. For example people who went through the flower power movement in the sixties may have passed on their hatred of war to their kids who in turn did the same.

What was originally a hate of war may mutate into a hatred of soldiers.

But I think the danger is letting their ignorance push you into your own. As a people we must be able to discern individuals from groups and vice versa.

And just so you know, I'm for pretty much state run everything and high tax brackets on high earners. I'm about as left as they come and in the USA I'd probably be considered communist and would have been locked up in the McCarthy era.
However, I fully support national defence including Nuclear deterrent. And I believe that anyone the serves this country in anyway, especially in service to our nation, should be supported as much as is viable once they have completed their duty.

All the best to you too, sir. And if you're a godly man then God bless you for your service. I'm sorry that the system has failed you

Far leftists in general do not like military personnel. They usually won't say it to your face, but everyone knows what they think inside - that we're tools, murderers, government controlled goons, and idiots too stupid to do anything else.
#208 - Jowi (07/22/2014) [-]
You're an idiot if you think "far leftists" think that considering the farthest left we've seen have been people like Stalin and Mao...
There are right wingers who also think we over spend on military. Pacifism isn't to do with political persuasion its to do with your opinion of war. Two complete separate parts of your view of the world. Maybe more people at anti war rallies are what you would call "lefties" but when the Iraq protests happened in London, it was opposed by all sides of the political spectrum.
The war itself in Britain was started by a left wing Prime Minister...

How about you don't just recycle what you hear on Fox news?
User avatar #180 - yuukoku (07/22/2014) [-]
Even if that's true about some people, it's still disrespectful. It's not like they aren't entitled to their own opinion, but they should at least show respect for the people who love and serve their country. Besides, I know a lot of people who came out of the military and are definitely smarter than most of them.
User avatar #190 - fuelnfire (07/22/2014) [-]
I'm a Chem engineer. Deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, served in the USMC for the most part in Iraq as a dumb grunt, did a bit in Afghanistan as well, and did the rest of my Afghan years in the Navy as a HC. Now I live in Canada happily racking up a 600% pay increase (im dead serious).

A lot of people look at you differently, once you told them you fought, sometimes good sometimes bad. Sometimes I just lied about not serving, just to stave off obnoxious questions and treatment. I mean, there are guys who will be nice, understanding, give me a nod of respect and go about their day. I don't mind that.

But there's some who go through my resume, and ask, "oh, you fought in Iraq? I heard it was pretty messed up, a lot of people have PTSD and stuff yeah?" And when I call and ask about why I didn't get a call back I get "We need people able to provide a good image to our customers."

Highschool kids were getting jobs I couldn't. So I stopped listing my service. That's why I hate leftists. They'll thank you in the news and officially, but when it comes to personal matters, and the nitty gritty, they won't help people who need it for shit.

User avatar #211 - yuukoku (07/22/2014) [-]
Oh, my God, that's awful. I thought having ex-military makes companies look good! I guess people like that are still stuck on the Vietnam mentality where they think that soldiers are baby-killers. Honestly, they think they're so forward-thinking, but they're still stuck in the 70's in their opinions and mentality.
User avatar #213 - fuelnfire (07/22/2014) [-]
For the most part it's not like that, but the Iraq war wasn't really liked by anyone. Conversely, some companies do enjoy veterans.
User avatar #214 - yuukoku (07/22/2014) [-]
I know Iraq wasn't like that. It's also not every individual soldier's fault if the war wasn't well received by the public.
#210 - Jowi (07/22/2014) [-]

Lol I'll say it here.

Is cuz I trans and I know FJ ain't too hyped about that now
#5 to #4 - Jowi (03/18/2014) [-]
That's cool. And I'm not so sure about that. FJ, despite everything, is quite accepting of the more taboo aspects of life. For example there is a delicately named account of faggitboy who is also transgender and is on the NSFW page who has quite a lot of thumbs from butt-plug related photos and she also posted a picture of herself on that content about posting attractive guys photos to increase the amount of women that come to the site, you may have seen it. Anyway she openly came out as transgender then and all the replies I saw were glowingly positive ranging from "boner what are you doing" to just openly saying "dude, you're fucking hot".
You don't have to do anything as brash as that I'm just saying you don't need to be afraid around here, we're all comrades when it comes down to it. For a lot of us we're the family and friends that we lack in the real world and some of the nicest things I've ever seen have happened on this site.

Anyway all the best with it
User avatar #6 to #5 - satrenkotheone ONLINE (03/18/2014) [-]
Oh thanks. And I haven't seen this, but sounds cool.

Old account is old. Must've been here forever.
#7 to #6 - Jowi (03/18/2014) [-]
Not much older than yours, but yeah I've been here a while. Since '05 i believe but I didn't sign up till they created the NSFW section haha.

If you're interested in the content it's still 9th on the front page, title "Are you sexy as fuck?"
#8 to #7 - Jowi (03/18/2014) [-]
and then just change the comment views to most rated and her comments will be amongst the tops I'm sure
User avatar #9 to #8 - satrenkotheone ONLINE (03/18/2014) [-]
Oh lol.

Well I created mine in 2011 back when the brony rush sorta started, jumped that fandom but I've fallen out it so to speak.

Hmm... I'll try finding it.
