Who ever said this was.
If someone released an HD remake of FFVII, they'd also put it on a sexy display and people would fap about it.
#99 - anonymous (05/31/2014) [-]
You're spending too much time being stupid to notice what's going on.
It wasn't declared as a remake either, it was an example to help put in perspective the re-release of something that already exists.
Some people are happy that they can now start to play with GC controllers on the WiiU, that's all you need to understand if you can't figure out the rest.

Why do you keep saying that? None of us here are trying to justify a rapist's actions, nor do we think it is right at all. We are saying that that women are partly to blame for not taking actions to PREVENT it from happening (ex. wearing revealing clothing at the wrong places, drinking to the point where they can't control their actions, bringing mace/a knife/etc to protect themselves). We can prevent certain crimes happening when we prepare for them. That is the argument we are making, not that rapists are given the green light to rape a girl if she is wearing revealing clothing.

I've read several people make the comment that it is the woman's fault for getting raped because she was not taking the appropriate measures to prevent rape. Some people even have made disturbing comments that they'd like to rape these women to make this point, it is to those people the original comment was directed to. It's stupid to get yourself piss ass drunk at a party, and you probably shouldn't do it, but you still should not have to worry about being taken advantage of sexually or otherwise.
#460 - jjohnsonncc (05/16/2014) [-]
Actually, you SHOULD worry about crimes happening, because this world has never been a crime free place where no one breaks the law or takes advantage of others. Thats completely farfetched to think that just because something isn't morally right means we shouldn't have to prepare for it. In fact, that should actually give more reason TO prepare for it.
#464 - touriopalfreyman (05/16/2014) [-]
And all I ask is that you don't be the rapist making the excuse that they deserve it. Really the original comment was aimed at the sacks of dicks stating the women deserved to be raped and otherwise put in their place because they're going shirtless and whatnot. So as long as you're not a rapist or excusing a rapist's actions because you thought the victim was acting too much or not enough of a certain way, I have no beef with you.
#470 - jjohnsonncc (05/16/2014) [-]
Right, I absolutly don't believe a rapist should be excused. I'm just saying that women do hold some responsibility to being raped. That doesn't in any way justify or excuse a rapist, and even if a women is completely defenseless, naked, and drunk, a rapist absolutly shouldn't rape her either way. If I die in a car accident because I didn't wear my seatbelt, and the other driver was the one who hit me, then it's true that my death was partly in my court, since I have total control over me putting on my seatbelt or not.
#472 - touriopalfreyman (05/16/2014) [-]
You literally cannot hold responsibility for being raped unless you're a rapist. There's no rape house that you can go to and rent a rapist, someone has to commit the act for there to be a rape, and it is their fault for doing so. You can most certainly take preventative measures, but just because you don't take all of them all the time doesn't mean you were responsible for a rape or "asking for it".

>leave 5 dollars on my desk
>Get up to use the restroom
>come back, 5 dollars is gone
You would agree that I could have prevented that from happening by looking ahead and taking necessary steps (like putting it in my pocket), right?
That argument you used can apply to anything; You cannot hold responsibility of theft unless you are the thief. That is incorrect. I, a victim, could have help responsibility by simply putting the 5 bucks in my pocket.
#485 - touriopalfreyman (05/16/2014) [-]
If you lost $5, yeah, that wasn't smart and you are probably responsible for said loss. However, the example you presented was that someone took the $5. Therefore it is their responsibility for taking it. You may have enabled it by being there, your mere presence and situation doesn't cause their action. It's still their action alone. It's like the asshole on my profile telling me to kill myself. I presented him a wall to write on and maybe even a motive to say "go kill yourself", but am I at fault for his hatred? I'd like to think I'm not.

Let me be clear. Im not just some heartless asshole who has no sympathy for rape victims. A good majority of the crime ISNT their fault. It's the Rapist's. I see what you are trying to say: If their isn't a rapist, there is no rape. Unfortunatly, rapists will always exist. We cant change that. However, we can do things to PREVENT the crime from happening (IE, taking responsibility)
A situation very simiar to the 5 dollar story happened to me a few years back. Except it was my car. I parked it on the beach and left the keys on top of the driver side tire while I went surfing. I came back, and lo and behold, my car was gone. Now, I don't need anyone telling me this because I'll be the first to admit: Those were MY keys; That was MY car;It was MY responsibility. I made a poor decision and I paid the price og being a victim of car theft. Could I control the fact that there was a car theif in the area? No. I could have, however, done something smarter than leaving my car keys so accessable.
Bottom line, this was just like any crime. Not completly my fault, but I do hold some responsiblity to getting it stolen by giving the theif an easier opportunity. Just like a rape victim holds SOME responsibility to being raped by making the circmstances for the rapist easier. I believe people are accountable forwhat happens to them, and I hold myself to that atandard as well. You may not think that, but I don't prefer playing the blame game. If someone doesn't want to be raped, they should take measures to prevent it. I am responsible for my own saftey, just like you are responsible for your own saftey and rape victims are responsible for their own safter. To me, throwing your hands in the air and saying "hey, if I get raped or not is up to you, not me" is basically commiting suicide.
Anyway, I know you dont agree with any of this, but that is my last speal I wanted to share. Good day.
