What ifs don't really justify killing a person. Good or bad. The punishment for robbing a liquor store isn't death. And shouldn't be carried out by vigilantes. There is laws and police for a reason

virtually every instance of robbery like this is non-violent, even if theres a gun. the robbers only shoot if theyre threatened, they just want to make it out with some cash.

yes 1 in 1000 is more than that, but that doesnt justify letting anyone carry weapons with capacity to kill just because they have a credit card

Sure, it's an understandable mistake but high adrenaline circumstances can't be an excuse. We're dealing with people's lives here, just because we can explain away why he pulled the trigger doesn't mean he's not aiming and shooting with the intent to kill.
In some cases you have time to think, survey, and choose, and in some you don't, either way, both trigger discipline and surveying the situation should tell him not to shoot there. Overreactions, losing your cool, and poor trigger discipline are precisely the sorts of things 2nd amendment advocates should distance themselves from.

Furthermore, not that it matters much, I think I can say if I were the innocent woman next to the man he shot at I would feel considerably less safe as a consequence.

Trigger discipline? What trigger discipline?

Americans confuse me. You hand out guns left and right to people without barely checking their criminal records or making sure that they have proper training, then you expect them to use these weapons in a lawful manner and have "trigger discipline" and strong nerves when they come across a real life situation.

Trigger discipline my ass.

Hell sometimes even your police don't have "trigger discipline" and if they don't, no shit your civilians don't have either.
