The issue that you seem to be ignoring is that while First and Second Wave Feminism were hugely necessary and beneficial movements, Third Wave Feminism has been co-opted by angry white middle class female liberal arts majors who are largely disconnected from reality, and has garnered huge support from ignorant female teenagers who will go all in for a cause where they think they're the underdog. Third Wave Feminism is a toxic movement lead by people who just want a podium to bitch from, and if they wanted to make a real difference they'd attempt to garner support for women in second and third world countries where women aren't even considered people, instead of stealing terms like "rape culture" from studies about male prisons and blaming terrorist actions on "Expectations of Male Masculinity"(thanks for that gem Anita).
The movement you're trying to describe is called Equalism. look it up

-Non-discriminatory voting practices
-Non-discriminatory hiring practices
-Equal pay (and come at me with the fucking pay gap, I dare you)
-Abortion in all 50 states (some have caveats, just know your shit)
In fact, I'd say they have it better than men in many cases. ESPECIALLY straight white men. Whenever I hear that women are oppressed here in America, I just say, "fucking HOW" and then get this bullshit. Men and women are equal. Blacks and Whites are -legally- equal (you can get into shit about prisons and drug charges but that's a different topic)

I assumed you were commenting that "You can't be feminist without being radical." I was making the statement that it depends on the context; you can be a "moderate" feminist, while the whole movement in general is usually seen as radical in the larger scheme of things. I'm just a bit confused as to the point you are trying to make concerning the comment above.

DesolateChris is talking about "true" feminists as though he gets to make that distinction. Also claiming that feminism is strictly about equality, the implication being that radical feminists aren't feminists. Essentially, I'm disagreeing with his definition of feminism.

No one, really. Language is a societal thing, not an individual thing. That said, look at how the word is used and its roots and you can usually figure out what it means. Tacking "ism" onto the end of a word makes it a movement, feminine refers to the female gender, so feminism can refer to tumblr feminists who hate men, people who follow the feminist theory born from the inequality women faced decades ago, or anything in between.
And as for comment #138, I'm making no comment on how I feel about all feminists. Merely that you can't say radical feminists aren't feminists. No true scotsman fallacy, yo.

For the third time, I totally agree with the statement that you don't get to choose who is a feminist and who isn't. As for how much inequality women face currently, that's arguable and not something I'm prepared to get into this morning.
All in all, it was nice to have a decently tempered debate on the subject.
