Where i come from i am actually shocked voer how racist people are. not just on color but based on ever ythign. espacially looks.

I dunno, I've definitely seen guys put a pretty strong halo on a hot girl. We can put the blinders up pretty easy too
User avatar #127 - Daeiros (07/13/2014) [-]
ignoring faults in the pursuit of sex is very different from saying something like, "I really like the way she doesn't shave her armpits, so cute!" then turning around and insulting another girl for the same thing. Guys do not tend to alternatively give compliments and insults for the exact same thing based on attractiveness.
#204 - billburr (07/14/2014) [-]
No but we do use different words to describe the same traits in more or less attractive women. "I love that girl because she calls me on my sh.it" vs. "What a bit.ch"
This is a tendency in all people, you just see it more in women because the judgement is being made about you. And to be honest, a big part of the creepiness vs. shyness thing is the confidence with which you carry you'reself. Quiet confidence is a very different thing from social anxiety It's a shame that people interpret anxiety that way but they are different things

yeah, they tell us 8 cups in US schools, but hardly anyone even comes close. Most people don't even drink 8 cups of liquid in a day, let alone water. We are a chronically dehydrated people, and the insane amounts of sodium and sugar in everything we eat and drink just makes it worse.

That's about 8 pints, that's the RDA. They recommend 8 pints a day
User avatar #137 - Daeiros (07/13/2014) [-]
i read pints, but i thought cups, not sure why. the RDA for water is actually 8 cups, not 8 pints, that would be double the daily dose

continued

6. The second law of thermodynamics has nothing to do with evolution. Inorganic systems will naturally decay into chaos. Living things can grow more complex and ordered because they are living and can make an effort to do so. Ripples in a pond cannot try to be bigger ripples and avoid fading, this is what that law refers too.

7. Sure, a creature with more or less chromosomes than the rest of their species would not be able to breed, unless of course, they found another member of their species with the same number of chromosomes. There is more than one person on earth with down syndrome.

8. Number 8 just says that because scientists don't know the origin of matter and the universe, that it is impossible for them to say that animals evolve through mutation and natural selection. I don't think I even need to refute that, it falls apart all on it's own.

9. Number 9 just states that evolution is wrong because we haven't found life on Mars even though Mars looks like a good candidate for life. Again, it mistakes evolution as an explanation for the origin of life.

10. Number 10 says that radio silence in space means that there is no other life in the universe and that means that evolution is wrong. Again, not dealing with origins. Also, space is a pretty big place, we have not been listening for radio signals for very long. I think Neil Degrasse Tyson summed it up best in Cosmos when he said that aliens could have been bombarding us with radio signals 300 years ago and we would have never heard them, it's entirely possible that they are using something more advanced that we have yet to discover, it's also possible that they never even discovered radio at all and technology took a different route on their planet.

All ten, nonsense. I'm sure I could do the same with the rest of your links, but I feel I've wasted enough time here.

exactlly. can you believe they also get pissed because at the moment we are born we´re given a gender? they say "just because i have a penis doesnt mean im a man how dare you classify me without asking" holy shit, they need mental help.
User avatar #373 - Daeiros (07/11/2014) [-]
On that point, I somewhat agree with them. Sex is determined at birth by your genitals, gender is the set of societal rules assigned to that gender. It's gender when you say that girls can't play football and boys can't wear dresses. Those things have nothing to do with what is between someone's legs. It's stupid to tell children what colors they are allowed to like and what their favorite toys should be, and yell at them and insult them whenever they like the wrong things.

I also agree that there does need to be ONE new set of pronouns to fill the glaringly obvious linguistic oversight that we have no pronoun to refer to a single person of unknown gender, and the grammar community refuses to allow the singular use of "they" and instead insists that in those situations we should use "he or she" which is ridiculous.

We do NOT, however, need to all go around making up our own personal pronouns and gender definitions, creating hundred of redundancies and reducing pronouns to essentially, secondary names. If everyone has their own pronouns, what is the point of a pronoun? Daeiros might as well just refer to guitargentleman of color by guitargentleman of color's full name every time Daeiros mentions guitargentleman of color in a sentence because that would be more efficient then memorizing guitargentleman of color's pronouns.

We also do not need to create hundreds of genders, I think male, female, trans, bigender, and genderless pretty much covers all the bases, and everything beyond that is meaningless overclassification.
