Dude, competitive play is fucking brutal.
You mess up even slightly, on one thing that, in normal play with the average group, would be completely overlooked, and it'll be the fucking thing that costs you the match.
You literally have to play perfectly, otherwise you'll lose.
And that's not even fucking taking into account the competitive aspects of games with an RNG, like Pokemon. It doesn't fucking matter how many hours I've sunk into breeding and training my perfect team if I get fucked over by the RNG literally every time I play.
It isn't a physical strain, sure, not intrinsically. You have to sink literal months of playtime into your game, though. That kind of constant play incurs the risk of repetitive movement strain, as well as optic strain. You can risk fucking your eyes and body up to the point where you literally can't do what you've spent all that time training to do.
And then, there's the mental strain. The demand for perfection that any performer experiences. The knowledge that if you mess up, you're fucked. The realization that one tenth of a second could mean the difference between victory and defeat. The fact you have to pre-empt your opponents' moves and know the proper counters, and realizing that they're probably anticipating your countermove.
It's demanding. At least as demanding as chess, which is traditionally classified as a sport, and is recognized as such in the fucking Olympics.

E-sport pros are all fit, I've only ever seen 1 fat guy play professionally.
E-sports are also much more mentally demanding than any physical sport. In football, or whatever other sport you wanna talking about, a player gets out on the field and performs. In football the plays are called for him, etc etc. In e-sports, every player has to have an indepth knowledge of all other professional teams that they will be competing with, have to keep up with meta, while also adapting to new patches. (speaking about mobas here for the most part. Also, I think arguing that it's a sport is retarded, thats why it's called E-sports)

Chess is a sport, as far as the Olympics are concerned..
Competative gaming is not a sport, but it is mentaly and physicaly exhuasting. You need to know everything about anything in what ever game it is you are competing in.
If its so easy, everyone would be making $6,000,000 for "pressing E at the right time"
