The color of sand, presence of particulates, and color of light reflecting off of it sure but it usually varies between white and a a few shades of beige. I don't think I've ever seen the foam itself turn green or blue.

thinking about it (not reading from anywhere) , that isn't wrong.

But there are other factors as well. Energy transfer often produces differences in heat. Say the tides. The fluctuations of large masses of water would be smaller if you assume there's no wind involved, but they would still exist due to gravity (moon). And such large amounts of moving water will naturally emit some heat. So will animals that aren't cold-blooded in attempt to warm themselves.
Also rain, snowfall and etc.

But yes, the sun is probably a major factor.

what I was pointing out is, that even if you remove the sun's heat from the equation you would still have some winds, although far weaker than the current ones.
