I don't think LTD is available in Japan, but I can be wrong. Pretty sure Japan has Grassroots and Edwards in favor of the LTD line. ESPs are obviously more plenty there.

For J-rock, doe, LTD and Ibenhad works.

I wish the LTD's didn't have the funky neck plates or I'd give an M10 all gold hardware. Perfect Jrock axe :c

Potentially getting two more old 'hoser guitars' from Dan..I guess I'll just end up buying all of his. Still interested in one or what? They'll need repair, but I'l fix 'em up nicely.

Too lazy to get on facebook, so check this out.

New Washburn 8 string. It's your typical black, EMG-loaded superstrat, but it's an alder body, has an ebony finger, Buzz Feiten tuning system, "super jumbo" frets, and the ************* Stephen's Extended Cutaway. :U
User avatar #916 to #915 - Butt Nuggit (03/27/2013) [-]
Yeah, I saw it's extended cutaay before I went to bed last night.
I love washburn, it'd be worth while checking it out.

THE PONY AVATAR, IT RETURNS!

Also, found 2 Gibsons I want to get one day:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibson_Sonex
www.elderly.com/items/images/30U/30U-12778_front.jpg
User avatar #893 to #871 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
Damn, forgot about the Invader.. so many gibson bolt-ons man.. they were cool. The thing I'm liking about these is that I'm seeing the action way low, this sweetens the deal for me. Like they're meant for metal. I just like the Sonex's look the best. It's weird but not too so. It was either this or a Harmony or Hondo etc. LP copy.. but hell for the same price you can get a genuine Gibby. :P
User avatar #894 to #893 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
Something else I'd probably do is get an Epiphone Les Paul or any japanese LP clone... Just like Euronymous. :P
User avatar #895 to #894 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
Yep, Euronymous is why It's a LP I'm after, and I'm trying to get clone, but it just happens the clone is the real thing at the same time XD
User avatar #896 to #895 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
I think he had a legit Les Paul. Gibsons were relatively cheap at the time. He also had a Marshall Plexi and JCM800.

But yeah, get a Epiphone Les Paul Standard or a LPS clone. :P
User avatar #897 to #896 - gloomysunday (12/31/2012) [-]
He had a Jap clone in the really early days (look up the Live in Ski vid; it's not his usual Sunburst one, which was a Gibson Standard)
User avatar #872 to #871 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
Oh damn, I was just fantasizing about the Sonex.. It's on my list of neat 80's pawnshop guitar I want to own. Plus I found a Gibby I wanted to give a shot at, I give you the SG1

www.ebay.com/itm/USA-made-Gibson-SG-1-/221166864309?pt=Guitar&hash=item337e9287b5

Can you say "Cavalera"? XD
User avatar #873 to #872 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
I'd probably get the second one first. The Invader looks awesome; a bolt-on Studio with some small contours on the back edges.

The Sonex looks cool, too. Especially if I can find a Silverburst one. I wonder how that Resonwood stuff sounds like.

And you need to paint that thing like the Brazilian flag. :P
User avatar #874 to #873 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
I won't do the SG1, it will be the Sonex. I've been secretly holding onto the thought of getting one, and you sunk my battleship. Out of all the stuff you could have struck interest in XD
I think that thing would be like the coolest black metal guitar evar :U
User avatar #875 to #874 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
Nah, this one. :P

http://media.beta.photobucket.com/user/otarabichi/media/Marauder-jw.jpg.html?fil ters[term]=gibson%20Marauder&filters[primary]=images
User avatar #876 to #875 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
If it was black with a rosewood fretboard, and they ditch that ridiculous chicken head knob for a 3 way, the marauder would work too.. but god that thing is a ******* joke D:
User avatar #877 to #876 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
I like it because it looks so weird... Scott "Tard" Grove got me interested in them.
User avatar #878 to #877 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
Now I really ******* hate them, that guy pisses me off to the 9th degree >:U

I'll still buy the Sonex though, they're plentiful and they fulfill that kooky 80's gibson copy thing.. while still being a gibson. Its perfect ._.
User avatar #879 to #878 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
Scott Grove likes any of the "odd" Gibsons from the Norlin years, 1975 - 1985. :P
User avatar #880 to #879 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
I feel like they're ruined, but I'm not gonna let that pompous ass keep me from liking things. I just want an original black sonex and some sort of marshall half stack from the same era. Boom, instant black metal :P
User avatar #882 to #881 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
Dusty, screws rusted, kinda strange layout? I'll take it! :D
User avatar #883 to #882 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
Thats a Marshall Artist 3203. SS preamp, 30 - 40W tube power amp. Came out in the mid-80s. They're supposed to sound fuzzy-ish, and with something like a taiwanese Boss HM-2 pushing it, you'll get black metal no problem. :P

Some other amps to check out are the Ampeg VH140C, Crate GX130C, and the Marshall 8100. They can get brutal on their own.
User avatar #885 to #884 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
That's a Marshall Mosfet, not a Marshall Artist. It's fully SS and 100W. It's supposed to sound almost identical to a JCM800 and is considered one of the best sounding SS amps.
User avatar #886 to #885 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
Well the 800 was around for black metal and long before it, so we ought to be okay with it right? I mean the ****** 250 bucks, you cannot go wrong >_>
User avatar #889 to #886 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
Another thing to consider is the death metal standard: The HM-2

www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOFKstAq6W8

Or if you want something that actually sounds decent:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fg5HLdYBskM
User avatar #887 to #886 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
Should be. The amp was made between 1986 - 1991. With a ****** distortion pedal you should be able to do black metal no problem.

www.guitarcenter.com/In-Store-Used-USED-BOSS-HM3-HYPER-METAL-108509991-i2897857.gc

That should give you a ****** , bees-in-a-can black metal tone without hassle. :P
User avatar #888 to #887 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
Looks the part, now I just need a cab. No problem, pawnshops always have a few ancient 4x12 cabs laying around. Good, gear settled

1982 sonex in black
1980something Marshall Mosfet
Boss HM3
And a whatever 4x12 is out there.

Nert :3
User avatar #890 to #888 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
Like I said; consider the HM-2 also. It sounds like **** , but in a good way

www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwuWzIq6kwg

All of this record was done with a Boss HM-2. It's THE Swedish Death Metal tone. I also think Burzum used one. I'd prefer it over the HM-3, but they're usually more expensive and harder to find.

Also, for a cab, just look for an old Peavey cab or the old 70's Ampeg V412.
They look like this:
http://uhaweb.hartford.edu/kwood/images/v4-cab.jpg
User avatar #891 to #890 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
Damn I'd like that particular ampeg.. but yeah the Peavey cab is easy, every pawnshop here has one. I can get one in a snap. I just cant wait to hear the Sonex though, I'm really excited about that :D
User avatar #892 to #891 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
If I were to get a "black metal" guitar or any off-genre guitar, it would either been an old Ovation or Eastwood GP.

www.amazon.com/Eastwood-GP-Guitar-Black/dp/B007Q2O

Would probably replace the pickups with GFS, Dragonfire, or maybe even Dimarzio PAFs. It's going to have low-output pickups.

I'd also grab a Gibson Invader and throw some DiMarzio X2Ns in it.
User avatar #846 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/29/2012) [-]
When I get a 4-string bass, I'm going to get one of these:

www.ebay.com/itm/Very-Nice-Purple-Fender-Squier-P-Bass-Special-4-String-Electric-Bass-Guitar-/400376020753?pt=Guitar&hash=item5d38453f11

P body, P neck pickup, J bridge pickup, J neck.
User avatar #869 to #846 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
Uhh, marshall MG cabs, sooo yeah. But I've grown accustomed to the bass cabs, so I'm trying to keep that my thing. But the cool thing is, when I don't want to play guitar I can just unplug the Smokey and plug a bass straight into the amp. It's very self sufficient really :U
User avatar #870 to #869 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
Oh damn, you HAVE been using ****** guitar cabs.. XD
#847 to #846 - Butt Nuggit (12/29/2012) [-]
I want one of the silverburst Jackson concert 5's or a Curbow 5.

Oh, and I used to have something like that, friend gave it from me. Turns out he stole it from his drug dealer, and ditched it with me. So I re-branded it Derpington Farms and pawned it for 25$ :P
User avatar #848 to #847 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/29/2012) [-]
Nice... XD

I can probably refinish it, but I like the purple finish.

Or I can spend more and get the Fender version. Has a gold pickguard and an active preamp.
User avatar #849 to #848 - Butt Nuggit (12/29/2012) [-]
The squiers are built a little blockier, and IMO they play better than the fenders. I have no idea why but oddball squiers are always amazing, I'd do that really. Then add the pre-amp yourself if you feel the need. Plus the purple finish, purple are coolest, ja? o.o
User avatar #850 to #849 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/29/2012) [-]
Well if I get a Fender one, I can just go at it with some Krylon, or if I wanna be flashy, some Duplicolor metal specs purple. :P

I might also consider the Jackson concert 4 string. The classic Ellefson version, not the curvy one. I was considering the 5-string version, but I really want a 5 string with narrow string spacing and a 35'' neck, which is why the Schecters look cool.
User avatar #851 to #850 - Butt Nuggit (12/29/2012) [-]
www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/jackson-js3v-concert-5-string-electric-bass-guitar

Yeah, it's got that o.o

Dave's sig is cool too, not that 'spensive either. I like this lineup, exept I don't really dig the matching headstocks. That's more your thing >_>

I was looking at the Ellefson version the entire time, which is set up pretty much like a traditional 5-string bass, with a 34'' neck and 21 frets.
User avatar #854 to #852 - Butt Nuggit (12/29/2012) [-]
I'm wanting just to upgrade my dean bass, throw an EMG in it and some heavier strings. Plus down the line, since I don't have my douglas anymore, find another vintagy bass. I'm thinking this:

www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/squier-vintage-modified-telecaster-bass

Oh, and I found THE amp. My neighbors down the block, they're sorta old farm people, they go to auctions and flea markets and trade stuff, they're always coming up with cool **** . Well they came home with this ******* fender man.. they're like you play bass right? grab it and come over and play this amp. It was incredible o.o

So anyway here it is.

Doesn't GFS make bass pickups for that shape?

And you're getting this bass amp for free? Or you're buying it for cheap?

Also, like I said, the Jackson 5-string is 34'', not 35. :L
User avatar #856 to #855 - Butt Nuggit (12/29/2012) [-]
Nah, not gonna take that from him. He's got himself a real jem, and he really wants to learn to play.. but I like it so much I think I'm gonna buy one for myself and use it as my Roland's cabinet voice / bass amp and my Behringer as a regular cab.

And it says 35" are you sure? or was it like a typo or something?
User avatar #857 to #856 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/29/2012) [-]
Fender makes a head version you can buy for cheap.

www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifiers-effects/fender-rumble-150-150w-bass-amp-head

And it's a typo on MF's part. I posted a link above. Someone measured the neck and said it was 34''.
User avatar #858 to #857 - Butt Nuggit (12/29/2012) [-]
Don't want just the head, I want that cab too, I mean REALLY great sound from it. Like you could tell with some distortion through it this thing would obliterate everything. Of course these people are a little older and they don't like metal, so again this is why I want my own, to do these things with it. Can't imagine, plugging my Roland into a 2x12 350w bass moster.. jesus christ :O
User avatar #859 to #858 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/29/2012) [-]
Oh, I misread. I thought you were going to use the Roland as the cabinet. o.o

You can find some used 2x10s for uber cheap online. Peavey makes one for $200 and you can probably find an old Hartke or SWR cab for really cheap.
User avatar #860 to #859 - Butt Nuggit (12/29/2012) [-]
Oh I know, but I just kinda tend to brag on things I've used before. Most music stores won't let you demo a guitar through a bass cab, and I don't get to. So this one feels really special in the moment. I might find a smaller version of it, or a used one. I just want that one. Plus I've found my sound through the little Smokey amp and the Fish and Chips with the gain boost all the way up. That's what this is really for, is a thickener for the Smokey XD
User avatar #862 to #860 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/29/2012) [-]
And I just did some reaing... Apparnently Fender pickguards don't fit Squiers.

******* . :l
User avatar #861 to #860 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/29/2012) [-]
Sorry for the lateness. Had some people over.

Also, try to find a 4x10 bass cab. Basses make use of more speakers than guitars do. Since I'm going to use a PA speaker, I might just try to find a used bass DI distortion box like a MXR M-80 or a Sansamp bass driver.
User avatar #863 to #861 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
I don't want a cab though, I want the combo because of the preamp and the volume control. Because the a 0.5 watt smokey amp with 16 of clean gain added driving a bass cab with no volume control would be ******* terrifying.. It needs some restriction :P
User avatar #864 to #863 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
Wait... Why would having a head and cab give you less control than a combo?
User avatar #865 to #864 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
http://anthillmusic.com/p-1343-zinky-smokey-mini-guitar-amp-head.aspx#comments

Because this is the head we're talking about... the volume control is simple "on"
User avatar #866 to #865 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
Oh, I thought you wanted to use a real bass amp. o.o
User avatar #867 to #866 - Butt Nuggit (12/30/2012) [-]
Nonono, you've completely missed this. This is a guitar rig, I just use bass cabs because the bottom end sounds better. And I like combos because the "head" generally is really loud going straight in, and sounds very bland. So volume control and EQ are very important. Plus on a bass amp, you can screw with in-between frequencies like low and high mids. So you generally get the sound you're looking for whatever it is. :P
User avatar #868 to #867 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/30/2012) [-]
You must have been using some really ****** guitar cabs if you're resorting to using bass cabs. :P

Still the same lame, stereotypical actives that come in nearly every extended range guitar. It just irks me, not everybody that buys a 7 or 8 string wants to go whore out the low string, I wanna play it and look good doing it. Dammit! >:U
User avatar #834 to #833 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/28/2012) [-]
Well, not everyone wants to do that, but most people do, which is why they cater their guitars to that crowd... Metal guitars, high output pickups.

Since a company like Rondo isn't a huge company, they can go out of the box since they're trying to not appeal to the masses.

User avatar #810 to #809 - Butt Nuggit (12/28/2012) [-]
I already do that man, costs like 5 bucks to make like a 25 foot cable, the main cost is the jacks. They last pretty good too, and when they break up just snip off an inch or two at the ends and re-solder it and it's good as new. :3
User avatar #811 to #810 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/28/2012) [-]

Goin' with Agile. I want that ghostburst one, looks pretty wicked :D

But for now, I don't have any high gain amps so It would be pointless to buy one, so Tele it is. I heard a few on youtube, they have kind of an Eric Johnson tone to them, nice smooth overdrive. I liek :U

User avatar #801 to #800 - Butt Nuggit (12/27/2012) [-]
Thats more what I wanted to do with it, I like the low B and F as just accent strings, I'd hardly ever play on them though. Still tele I must say, I got the money for it now. If I get saved up maybe I'll buy the 8 but who knows :P
User avatar #802 to #801 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/27/2012) [-]
Well then get the 827, or get the ESP 8-strings since they have a shorter scale you'll probably be accustomed to. :P
User avatar #803 to #802 - Butt Nuggit (12/27/2012) [-]
Like I said, I want a higher gain amp first. I'm thinking a Mesa mini Recto. Then I'll start thinking about 8's.. but for now its sweet 'lil tele time :3

The aging ruined it for me. Looked WAY overdone and fake. Glad they got rid of it.
User avatar #784 to #783 - Butt Nuggit (12/26/2012) [-]
It did, yeah. But the thing is, they left it unfinished so it would age naturally pretty quick and It would look alright. That was my theory :P

I rather age it my own way. By letting it fall all the time because I have no gutiar stands. :P

I prop mine up behind the door when I fap because I don't have a lock. The result of my guitars falling has helped them age and has saved me lots of explaining. Plus yeah, I only have one stand and its a piece of garbage from the late 70's >_>

Its like that, but like I said yellow. Oh, and I think they blocked off the trem and retrofitted a hardtail.

You have enough guitars. :P

You need a better cab. You can get you a decent cab for like $250 if you get one used.

Yeah, looking to see if I can find a fender 2x12 somewhere, shouldn't be hard. Pawnshops carry all kinds of them

If you can find a Carvin cab, jump on it. They're usually loaded with Celestions.

Also, given the tones you like, you may either like V30s or Greenbacks.

Oh, and one more thing... Here's an amp to add to the list of tube amps I want if I ever go tube:

Keith Merrow just made me want it even more...

Not a huge Dino fan, but it should be a decent guitar.

Speaking of Ibanez...

So they're giving it a fixed bridge to keep costs down? :P

Wait, wat? o.o

You need to login to view this link

Thats the Edge Zero II-7.

God, this is part of why I hate modern guitars, too complicated.

Ibanez: "We just invented this new trem, its so technologically innovative, there is nothing else like our new trem"

Me: "... Its just a polished up floyd rose"

Ibanez: NO WAY MAN, THIS IS THE EDGE 3000 WHAMMY-DAMMY FLIPPEROO AND DON'T YOU FORGET IT
User avatar #750 to #749 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/23/2012) [-]
I actually prefer the Edges over the Floyds. Better for palming since they're low-profile.

So, we may be finally getting this in the US.

Yuss. Although what really caught my eye on that page was the big ass ad for the Diesel amps.. Rusty Cooley plays the Herbert. I want ._.
User avatar #731 to #730 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/22/2012) [-]
I thought he was a Peavey guy?
User avatar #732 to #731 - Butt Nuggit (12/22/2012) [-]
Well, he plays alot of stuff but I remember him for his Diesels. All his 8 string stuff is on a Diesel anyway, past that I don't know :P
User avatar #733 to #732 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/22/2012) [-]
Well, according to some reading, he endorses Peaveys. He's using the 6505+, JSX, and my favorite, the 3120.
#734 to #733 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/22/2012) [-]
Wait... We're both right. XD
User avatar #735 to #734 - Butt Nuggit (12/22/2012) [-]
I seriously can't understand how his house hasn't collapsed yet.. that's one loud ass rig he's got there, and he tunes low too ._.
User avatar #736 to #735 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/22/2012) [-]
Well the Peaveys rely mostly on preamp overdrive, so they can be ran pretty low. As well as the Rocktron preamp in the rack. Not sure about the Diezel. :P
User avatar #737 to #736 - Butt Nuggit (12/22/2012) [-]
Not sure either, oh and speaking of low..

The Sterling JP70? Mien! I call it! :U
User avatar #738 to #737 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/22/2012) [-]
I'm thinking about getting it... XD

Or a used Schecter Helllraiser C-7 FR, or maybe even the Jackson SLATX 7 string with the floyd rose.
User avatar #739 to #738 - Butt Nuggit (12/22/2012) [-]
Nah man, go for the JP70. Its a hell of alot more guitar than any of those, plus its purple. Color of kings. Do it. XD

Me, I've gone back to Eastwood. Gonna try a Stormbird after hearing how good it sounded on youtube reviews. It's like the only basswood guitar I'd buy right now :P
User avatar #740 to #739 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/22/2012) [-]
...You never played a JP70 to find out. XD
Plus, like I said, Floyd Rose (or hardtail... or TOM) or GTFO. :3

User avatar #741 to #740 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/22/2012) [-]
Oh, by the way...

JP70 = Basswood. Trucci's a Basswood whore. :P
User avatar #742 to #741 - Butt Nuggit (12/22/2012) [-]
Yeah I know. But dude. It's a 'Trucci.

It's different o.o
Not much to say on the Stormbird, I don't have an excuse for that one. I'll just go around telling everyone mine is alder or something like that. Idk :P
User avatar #743 to #742 - akittywithaguitar ONLINE (12/22/2012) [-]
It's... Just plain basswood. He uses them on most of his customs, save for a few Alder-bodied ones.

Also, basswood hate = so 2006. Get with the times. :P

Also, did some searching on some Deans...
www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/dean-vinnie-moore-vinman-electric-guitar

Not bad... Not bad at all...
