Because one follows an athletic sport and their favourite, real, players. The other follows a bunch of drawn girls with ridiculous boob sizes.

One is associated with major autism too, as in this cringe comp.

It's really common sense.
#302 - ainise (04/23/2015) [-]
I follow writers, VA's, and studios. I avidly avoid fanservice heavy animes. I also enjoy watching professional Tennis, Chess, Soccer, League of Legends and a lot of other things. You don't have to be creepy about the things you enjoy by devoting an entire room to it.

I personally would probably avoid both of these people. The anime guy almost entirely because of the bedding - something about that just creeps me the fuck out, the sports guy because it looks like a teenage girl's room plastered with photos of the hottest guy this week/popular singer of the month.
User avatar
#129 - ljxjlos (04/23/2015) [-]
Not all anime is fanservice-y bullshit and fat fucks who go crazy for their team without even being able to score a single goal in a game amongst friends because he looks like the ball is just as cringy as weeaboos.

I enjoy sports and I enjoy manga, but those extremes are both ridiculously embarrassing.

Of course it isn't. But you have to understand that to people outside those circles, that's what it looks like. Whereas to people outside sports circles, it doesn't seem as bad.

You've always got to think how it looks to society as a whole.
#317 - anon (04/23/2015) [-]
To the people outside the sports circles (as I am), they seem just as bad.
Loud, obnoxious, aggressive, they will talk for hours about it to people who are not interested and are just generally obsessive over something they can't do themselves.
Sounds exactly the same as the weeaboo stereotype.

Obsessing over cartoon girls isn't healthy, but neither is obsessing over men trying to get a ball to go in the right direction. Obsessing over anything isn't healthy.
#98 - anon (04/23/2015) [-]
Yes, masses of brain-dead retards continuously shouting for no reason at a bunch of brain-dead retards throwing a ball at each other. That is what autism is.
User avatar
#142 - euskippy (04/23/2015) [-]
Clearly you don't actually understand sports properly. And you're posting as anon anyway.
#149 - shadowgandalf (04/23/2015) [-]
Then tell me why? I'm not a sports fan, but to me it looks like the majority of the fans are in it for the social aspect of it, and not the players themselves.

But then again, there exists people who are radically obsessed with their favorite players like the first pic in OP's comb. These people are in no way in for it because of the social aspect, but because they enjoy it.

So why is one better than the other? And is either of them even bad?
User avatar
#152 - euskippy (04/23/2015) [-]
A lot of sports fans are in it because they enjoy the sport, whether that be playing it on a casual level or watching it at a competitive level. The social aspect is a bonus, it's always a good conversation with like minded people. Sport also, at a competitive level, actually takes a LOT of thinking, physical training, dedication and numerous other things for the players. People like people who are good at things.

I didn't say one was better than the other when taken to extremes, and the both of them are definitely unhealthy. But society sees sport as more acceptable because at the end of the day, that person is worshipping another fellow human being for his abilities during his career, as opposed to a drawn cartoon.
User avatar
#286 - birdswin (04/23/2015) [-]
A lot of anime fans worship real people too. Look at all the ones who obsess over Miyazaki and everything he's ever been involved with.
#153 - shadowgandalf (04/23/2015) [-]
>A lot of sports fans are in it because they enjoy the sport, whether that be playing it on a casual level or watching it at a competitive level

Same goes for anime and other such fandoms.

>Sport also, at a competitive level, actually takes a LOT of thinking, physical training, dedication and numerous other things for the players. People like people who are good at things.

People also likes things that simply interest or entertain them, which is why we have things comics, movies and books.

>I didn't say one was better than the other when taken to extremes, and the both of them are definitely unhealthy. But society sees sport as more acceptable because at the end of the day, that person is worshipping another fellow human being for his abilities during his career, as opposed to a drawn cartoon.

Now, this is probably gonna come off as extremely rude. You say that it's socially acceptable to worship a human being because it exists, over a work of fiction.
But is that really true? More than half the human population belives in Gods, which at this point in time may as well be as much a work of fiction as an anime

User avatar
#157 - euskippy (04/23/2015) [-]
>Same goes for Anime and other such fandoms

Yeah, it does. I was just answering your point about people seeming to be in it for the social aspect

>People also likes things that simply interest or entertain them, which is why we have things comics, movies and books.

Yeah. I agree?

>Now, this is probably gonna come off as extremely rude. You say that it's socially acceptable to worship a human being because it exists, over a work of fiction.
But is that really true? More than half the human population belives in Gods, which at this point in time may as well be as much a work of fiction as an anime

I said society accepts it more because of that reason. People outside both circles look in and have different opinions of both extremes. Sports also has the advantage of being around in our entire history for a LOT longer. Attitudes towards anime and shit are changing too, and at a much quicker rate but it's still going to take a while before people accept it. So yeah, I'd say it was true.

You should keep the God argument out, it's part of religion which is a faith, which is completely different. A lot of people follow religion for completely different reasons and sometimes, people just need to believe that there's a point to everything.

Let's not forget that one has a habit of sexualizing teenage/preteen girls. You can argue that "it's not that bad" because they're not real but it's still pretty fucking weird.
#267 - anon (04/23/2015) [-]
You get fatass sports fans and you get buff anime nerds. Stereotyping is dumb and the kind of shit tumblr pulls, so stop that.

The only reasons for one to be more culturally accepted than the other are totally arbitrary. I would personally argue devoting your life to a particular obsession to that level is cringy for either person. Then again, I collect all sorts of vidya, but hey. At least I'm aware of my cringe level.

Luna is dressed up as the red spy from TF2.

As for Venus, since her name stems from... well Venus from Roman mythology, the goddess of beauty, and the obvious contrast from the planet Venus (A literal hell hole), the chances it would be feminazi are pretty high.
