I fucking hate theme accounts, hate the very idea of them. But what I'm saying is if somebody understood as a 'theme account' makes a normal comment that isn't a part of whatever theme just let it go, then eventually the trend will disappear.

Ratagast is a powerful wizard. albeit not as powerful as Gandalf and Saruman, but still a powerful wizard. His character felt a little bit.. forced? not well thought out? I'd always imagined the wizards as confident, strong willed, courageous to a point. Radagast is not like that in the movie, and it's not a good interpretation in my opinion. Even Saruman, as much of a dick as he was, possessed admirable qualities but Radagast was portrayed as nervous coward who didn't seem to give it his all when shit hit the fan.
User avatar #99 - Awesomenessniss (05/17/2015) [-]
Radagast is just a peculiar character, even when ELrond suggested trying to track him down to fight against Sauron Gandalf described him as having no mind for war. He is still powerful, as all the Istari are, but sees no reason to use that for offensive purposes and rather to care for the creatures of nature. Each Istari was associated with one of the Valar and Radagast was close to Yavanna who looked over all living things and made them grow. Essentially Radagast was a peaceful entity in a non-peaceful world.

as someone who is looking at it from outside the fanbase, certain shit just bugged me. Ratagast bugged me. the white orc dude (forgot his name) was cool and all but if I remember correctly, he's only mentioned in passing in the book. I don't remember Gandalf fighting the necromancer. I mean it's been like 8 years since I read the book but I think I'd remember that

What about Radagast bugged you, just curious. The orcs' name was 'Azog the Defiler' and he was mentioned in a footnote somewhere. Gandalf did not get into an all out brawl when he visited Dol Guldur but that isn't a part mentioned in the book, one of the things Jackson tried to do was show what Gandalf was up to when he was away from the rest of the group.

I liked Peter Jackson for the trilogy. I liked The Hobbit, but I thought he took way too many liberties. there is no reason whatsoever that it was three movies
User avatar #95 - Awesomenessniss (05/17/2015) [-]
I greatly enjoyed the original trilogy, and still do even though they had to leave a few things out for brevity's sake. When it comes to the Hobbit the way I usually put it is that it was an alright movie but was unsuccessful as a representation of the source material. Jackson really wanted another trilogy and put real strain on the storyline trying to stretch it out which is why he stuffed it to Hell with filler but I'm not going to get into my list of issues with the Hobbit.
