lol well I'm a beta too so I may not be the best of help, but I'll try.
Firstly, you need to rank yourself on a scale of 1-10 to best see where you need improvement.
1 probably being: "I have anxiety, holy shit help me now!"
and 10 kinda like: "Yeah I've seen a man be slaughtered and mutilated. No big deal"
I'd say I'm a 7 since I get scared at jump scares and horror movies, but then I forget about it and no problem.
Second, if you're not a no-friends kinda guy, then I suggest finding a friend who's a pro at horror movies that could guide you along and take you on a movie marathon.
Third, if horror movies are what scare you and not something that's real, try and find behind the scenes, the actors in other movies, bloopers, etc. Anything that takes away from the realism of the movie.
Fourth, you need to accept the fact that horror movies are NOT REAL and that you have nothing to worry about. Maybe you could keep a weapon of some sort for self defense around you when you sleep as a mental anchor to know you're safe.
This is just at the top of my head so this is just some stuff I suggest.

I've heard most of it before but I appreciate the effort.. thanks.

I feel so pathetic right now... my life is totally in tact but my conscious disagrees because of some stupid horror movie?

I am legitimately terrified that my gpa will plummet because of this distraction. I can't believe I'm at this level.

Anyways, thanks for trying to help man, I appreciate it greatly.

This board came out like 2 months ago. The real question is how you've been coming here for years.

All this means is that you're a beta when it comes to spooky things. Paranoid, draw conclusions to fast. All you have to do is stray away from spooky things. Watch some comedy or action and such.
Also recognize that absolutely no horror movie is real. Maybe read the movie wikis and see what other movies the cast members have been in order to break the movie barrier even more.

not this board. I mean fj in general.. whenever i want to talk to the community, i got a board.

And thank you for your response... I am indeed a beta when it comes to this stuff, but I don't want to be anymore. I've wasted so much time distracted by my fears, I'm livid... any advice for not being a pussy when it comes to scary movies?

I don't know how good the actors are in it, but sometimes it helps to just see through their acting. Or try to think of it in a funny way. While I was watching one of the more recent paranormal activities I had to exit the theater for a while because I was laughing so hard at a part in it. (when the invisible demon thing picks up the girl and she's sorta spinning... I imagined the demon purposely winding her up like a top with a giddy smile, but just in a goofy way, like instead of trying to cause harm he was trying to entertain/provide humor for the viewers)

I used to get deathly afraid of movies as a child though. After seeing war of the worlds I had trouble sleeping/not having nightmares for quite a while.

From the ages of 4-17 the majority of my dreams consisted of me getting killed, receiving extreme bodily harm, or viewing loved ones and family members being killed.

My parents used to have me take meds to make me groggy so I would go to sleep easier, that often times just made it harder for me to wake myself up then so I would have to deal with the pain.

My advice is to either try to find humor in the movie somehow(watch it in a well lit room and go to sleep with the lights all on bright and make sure you feel secure[ie. be mostly enclosed, sleep with your back to a wall, make sure no entryways are open into the room, try to have a pet with you if possible, or just stuffed animal. If you have any religious belief pray/just pretend you have someone there to protect you who's a powerful being meant for good. The only thing that's harming you is your own thoughts.] I also suggest focusing on a happy time in your life extremely hard, look through photographs that make you happy, or just watch a funny stupid movie that will get you to forget all about the scary one.

Follow my advice for sleeping though, it'll seriously help. Fear of the unknown causes the imagination to go rampant. If all the stimuli is predictable your imagination is controlled.

Gaben's wise words ring true even now...
But seriously you'll get over it in time, not much else you can do since from what you've said, you're naturally scared of things. Maybe rewatch the movie at home with the Benny Hill theme song on or in the day and analyze every damn part of the movie so it's less scary and more funny or stupid.

I've been in that situtation before, and yes, it has passed... but I have a lot to do, and I don't have time to waste sitting here, depressed and pathetic.

I have no idea what to do with myself at the moment.... I feel like a joke.

Maybe it has something to do with me getting banned from league as well? I used to play it a lot, and it has been my main source of entertainment for the past few months. Maybe my brain associated happiness with playing it routinely, and now that it's gone suddenly, the effect of this movie is much stronger than it should have been?

What do you think?
