if you look at it as a single game.its just decent at best.when you compare it to ds 1 it sucks.

the difficulty went from being challenging and rewarding to cheap.some traps are no longer detectable and most bosses are just made hard by giving them mobs or making it multiboss fight. enemies rotate towards you like they are in a rotating platform making them look pretty dang ridiculous and since they usually plaster about 5 to 10 strong enemies in one room it makes most stages just annoying to play.

the level design is just odd and mostly its just narrow tube that leads to a bonfire that teleports you back to the starting area once the level is clear. and lore was somewhat confusing and boring

what was the deal with the queen anyway??

Nashandra is the reincarnated form of Manus, Father of the Abyss (And likely the Pygmy) after his defeat at the hands of the Chosen Undead. Essentially, enough fragments of Humanity-- Which are fragments of the Dark Soul-- managed to collect amongst themselves after all these thousands of years that have passed, masterminded by the tiniest fragment, which was aware of its frailty and wanted that which it did not initially possess: Power.

Enough Humanity collected together to form something Human. A being of pure Dark, like the one they originated from. That being was Nashandra.

Nashandra appeared before King Vendrick claiming to be from a distant land, and warned him of a threat looming across the seas-- The Giants. She coaxed him into attacking them first, bringing back some great prize. Vendrick attained great knowledge of Souls after this victory over the Giants, and created the Golems, created Drangleic Castle, and solidified his power. Vendrick was very likely a Chosen Undead who should have linked the First Flame again, but instead made an attempt to escape the cycle of Life and Undeath that he realized kept happening.

Vendrick was the Light. Nashandra was the Dark. Vendrick might have thought that the Curse appeared after the Light or the Dark became too powerful, they were too far out of harmony and so the world attempts to create a way to rectify the problem by forcing someone to rise to the occasion and balance it. The two ruled in harmony for some time-- And then the Giants stormed Drangleic in an attempt to retake what was lost.

Nashandra's true colors appeared at some point. She wanted total rule, and she wanted to spread the Dark. Her influence had kept peace and prosperity amongst the King and the Kingdom, but now she wanted power. Vendrick, by this point, was far more concerned with trying to fix the Curse-- And stave it away from himself. He locked himself away to deny her the Throne of Want, leaving Nashandra to bide her time and maintain.

game was awesome, and dont believe all those lies under here about "great feeling when finally taking down a boss"
The feeling are as follows:
Hatred of a place after dying 30-50 times beacuse you are retarded.
Please beyond beeing covered in nutella when beeing done with a area (killing the boss just dont do it)
And at last, depression when you once again are stuck in the next are.

Repeat.

died about 400 times on my first completion of the game (used a keyboard and a mouse. Fuck dat shit)

Nobody says this game has bad design, this game's design is pretty beautiful honestly. Not as good as the Dark Souls I design, honestly, but its still amazing as always.
User avatar #59 - blacknbluebrony (05/20/2014) [-]
Hahaha no.

People play this game because it's actually genuinely challenging. Most other games will hold your hand and make you clear waves and waves of enemies with minimal effort. In Dark Souls, there's none of that. This game isn't afraid to punish your mistakes with gruesome death over and over again. You need to actually think smart in combat and time your moves carefully instead of just running headlong into the enemies and expecting to kill them.

And it isn't unfairly hard either, it's just a matter of knowing your enemies and what you're doing, and patience. When you finally clear a difficult area or boss, you actually feel a great sense of accomplishment. Plus the combat system is probably one of the best in any game I've ever played. There isn't any clear "better" weapons or armor. There are many, many different types of weapons in the game each with their own move sets.

Lastly, I love the way they do the stories in the Souls games. It isn't spoon fed to you and crammed down your throat. Sure you can go through the game with a vague feeling of what the overall story is, but if you really want to know it, you'll actually have to go looking for it and piecing everything together. And it also leaves a lot of room for your own interpretations of the lore, which by itself is already very good.
User avatar #51 - sneperker (05/20/2014) [-]
No, it's just the hitbox of the crystal lizards is a pain to deal with of you don't have a weapon that has vertical attack animations.
Boss design is a little lazy but that doesn't detract too much from the overall experience.
Personally i enjoy Dark Souls 2 more than the Dark Souls.
#50 - IMIGHTBEJESUS (05/20/2014) [-]
The first one was really genuinely challenging, but in a way that most enemies could kill you pretty quickly if you messed up, but at the same time, if you played smart and got good at the game, you could go through entire levels without taking damage, making it a really fun and challenging game, but from what i've heard (haven't played DS2, just finished DS1) the second one has a lot more enemies that are just unavoidable bullshit damage and that feel more like luck or you just getting hurt for no reason rather than it feeling like you actually did something wrong.
User avatar #84 - angelious (05/20/2014) [-]
you are correct. ds2 had a bad level design and cheap difficulty..
#49 - anonymous (05/20/2014) [-]
People play the game because it's great, really knows how to challenge you just enough to make you wanna keep trying.
It is clunky at times, but 90% it did not affect my death.

By not eating, your body goes into starvation mode and deliberately fights weight loss, if you genuinely want to lose weight, you won't just try the easy way. Losing weight requires a balanced and consistent diet teamed with training. 3 miles of running/walking is enough to lose weight. You can't rush weight loss. 3 miles sounds great for now. You can do more miles quicker as you lose more too. Just be patient.

Holy shit. you are serious.

Your body is in something call starvation mode. Your body is trying to conserve as many calories as possible to help you survive a long as possible. You are going to lose a lot of muscle before you lose much fat, and the more muscle you lose the less stored fat your body will need to metabolize to function.

You body starts doing this if you have something like more than a 500 calorie deficit.

You need to consider things beyond just how many calories you use during exercise, and come up with a healthy diet and exercise plan.

What you are doing is really unhealthy, and really uninformed.

There's part of your mistake. You'll actually lose weight if you intake a certain amount of calories less than your prior diet, and work out a decent amount, since your body learns to sustain off of less, and works more.

Calories are not weight and should not be measured strictly as such. Calories are a measurement of energy that come from different kinds of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. You should be getting a healthy balance, and making sure that you get the good fats and simple carbohydrates. What you want is a balanced diet of where those calories actually come from. Starving yourself is not an effective weight loss method, and in fact can have some serious consequences, especially if you switch straight into heavy weight loss methods from an unhealthy diet. Not to scare you but I know a guy who went from very overweight to trying to train for a marathon, and he did so much damage because his body was outputting more enzymes than needed that he had to get his gallbladder removed.

Like I said, I'm not a nutritionist so I can't exactly diagnose your problem or tell you the best way to get results, but I know you're not doing this right the way right now.

Also, are you getting a decent amount of sleep? Does your workout consist of not only a variety of exercises, but also bringing you to the point of sweating? Not working out before going to bed? Those can have an effect on your issue.
User avatar #126343 - iridium (04/07/2014) [-]
That said, there are diets that work different for different people. For instance, for some people a low to no carb diet works better because their body digests carbohydrates different. Point being it's usually better to see a nutritionist/dietician/workout specialist about it.

Cut down on stuff like breads and pastas.
Those are complex carbs you dont need. Drink lots of water. Cut out sugary drinks, including soda lemonade or koolaid shit like that. Drink a glass of milk or orange juice or milk in the mornings, eat some fruit or lean lunch meats like turkey. Make sure you ARE eating, just be sure its the right stuff.

Mix up your workouts. Have a slightly different routine for every day. Your body can become accustomed to the same workout and (while still good exercise) it will not yield consistent results.
User avatar #126342 - womanexplain (04/07/2014) [-]
Calories are not the only thing to keep in mind when losing weight, see your GP and figure out a decent diet and exercise plan, what you're doing now is dangerous to your health and to be brutally honest, ludicrous.
#126334 - anonymous (04/07/2014) [-]
If you eat often then you will get high metabolism. just make sure what you eat is healthy, and by healthy I mean vegetables, fruit and meat
User avatar #126330 - ScottP (04/07/2014) [-]
You need to eat. Your body requires fat to burn fat (and by that I mean good fat, not the additives and preservatives that come in junk food). You need protein to give your body energy. You can't just not eat. Your body will end up storing whatever meager fats it can take in because it still needs those to provide sustenance to itself.
#126335 - Aezync (04/07/2014) [-]
? I don't understand how I've been able to run 3 miles + do 1 hour of lifting per day without eating a single thing for the entire 5 weeks. Shouldn't the fat I currently have been "used up" quite some time ago? I don't understand why I can't lose weight when my caloric deficit is so high.
User avatar #126402 - nospyonme (04/08/2014) [-]

Not too into nutrition, but are you really not eating anything? You need a healthy diet if you really want to lose weight, not just "don't eat anything". Also, are you sure you're really not losing body fat?
#126333 - Aezync (04/07/2014) [-]
Not eating anything, just drinking water. And I've done some calculations if I were to eat ANYTHING.
So let's say I have about 1000 calories a day.
That takes 5 miles to burn off. There is no deficit yet. Then, weightlifting for about 1 hour burns about 350 calories. So I've lost 350 calories of fat for the entire day, which means I can lose 1 pound per 10 days.

By eating nothing, I can lose about 3 pounds per 7 days. Seems better, doesn't it?
User avatar #126340 - iridium (04/07/2014) [-]

>she starts yelling at him
>he tries to hold her and tell her now is not the time (almost the entire school is watching)
>she pushes him away
>tells him straight up "it's over"

> the look on his face is that of a broken man
>she knocks him the fuck out with a punch
>megadouche is unconsious
>entire school in awe
>she gets the fuck out on her moto
Apparently he was planning to break up with her by asking her sister to prom or some shit like that.
Don't know if he deserved it, but I'd say so.

#590 - Aezync (08/11/2013) [-]
A film, at most, provides you with 3 hours of entertainment. Let's say 4 just because of the after-moments where you contemplate the film or whatever.

Now a trilogy will last you longer, let's say 12 hours. 3 different movies waste half of a day of your time.

Now a popular video-game, like CoD, GoW, or BF3 will last you for HUNDREDS of hours. You waste 100s of hours doing the same thing over and over again.

Even the more esoteric games like BG, DA, ME, MGS, etc. provide at LEAST 11 hours of gameplay, per game. And there are trilogies of these games. 36 hours, wasted.

Even after all that wasted time, you move onto a new game to waste more time. Where's the logic?

When it comes to music, you can do ANYTHING while listening to it. You can run, read, write, play an instrument, dance, eat, and perhaps even sleep while music is playing. It's not the same as a video-game, which requires your full attention.

So that's why I solo out video-games.

I don't disagree with you - I think video games are a bit of a waste of time, and some people really do take it too far when they spend every day playing games, but I don't think there's anything wrong with playing games regularly since you can still have a proper hobby and have a good job that contributes to society.

Based on your comments, I'm gonna guess that you're about 13 or so.

You've been around for 2 years and you still suck at "trolling" as someone like you would call it because everyone at your middle school does.

Go away.

You're a great example of a classic neckbeard who is solely pretentious because of how he knows about esoteric internet jargon. Congratulations for your immense contributions to society.

Do something productive with your life instead of being selfish with your time.

Everybody's good at something, yet people like you waste potential for enjoyment.

Fags, the lot of you.
